We partner with our clients from adolescence through postmenopause to assist them in achieving maximum wellness. I’m an experienced midwife, seasoned mom of 3, and a passionate educator. For over a decade, I’ve been a full scope midwife, providing prenatal care, witnessing the miracle of birth time and time again, caring for women in the postpartum period, and providing gynecological care. At The Village Midwife, PLLC, my clinical practice focuses on helping women find balance and optimal wellness through the integration of education, lifestyle modifications, supplements, botanicals, natural remedies, and medication. It is my true passion to partner with my clients to help them achieve better health and to provide holistic gynecology care to women throughout their lifespan, from adolescence through postmenopause.

Putting your phone down, even for a short time, gives your mind a chance to reset. You can hear yourself think. You notice how you’re feeling. You reconnect with the people in front of you. These small moments of presence support your nervous system in a real way. They help your body settle, your thoughts slow down, and your stress level soften.

It doesn’t have to be a full digital detox. Just a little more intention. A few minutes of quiet in the morning. A bedtime routine without scrolling. Sitting with your kids or partner without checking notifications. Choosing one real moment of presence at a time.

Your mental health and your body benefit more from those small pauses than you might realize. And you deserve that kind of space.

Reading has become one of my favorite ways to reset my mind. It pulls me out of the constant scrolling, the noise, and the pressure to keep up with everything happening online. It gives my brain something steady and calm to focus on, and I feel the difference in my mood every time I make space for it.

I also love a book that teaches me something about my body or helps me understand women’s health in a clearer, more supportive way. Learning how my body works has made me feel more grounded and confident, and I think a lot of women find the same comfort in that kind of learning.

You don’t need to read a certain number of books or follow any rules. You just need something that feels enjoyable and pulls you back into yourself. Whether it’s fiction, romance, thrillers, or short chapters before bed, hobbies like reading can support your mental health more than we give them credit for.

Your GYN appointment shouldn’t feel rushed or overwhelming. It should feel like a place where you can actually talk about what’s going on with your body. Your questions, your symptoms, your concerns, and even the small things you’ve wondered about all deserve space.

I know a lot of women feel nervous or even uncomfortable walking into those visits, and that shouldn’t be the norm. At The Village Midwife, we focus on creating an experience that feels calm and supportive from the moment you walk in. You’re given time to settle, time to ask questions, and time to talk through what you’ve been feeling. We use gentler exams, clear explanations, and a pace that never feels rushed. You can expect warm lighting, privacy, and a provider who checks in with you through every step so you always know what’s happening and why.

You deserve care that listens, explains things clearly, and helps you understand your body without judgment. A GYN visit should feel like support, not stress, and you should always feel comfortable enough to say what you need. The right environment makes all the difference.

I’ve had so many women ask about menstrual cups and whether they’re worth trying. For a lot of people, the answer is yes. Cups hold more, they’re reusable, and once you get the hang of it, they can make your cycle feel a lot easier to manage.

There’s definitely a learning curve, but that doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. It just takes a little practice and finding the right fit. If you’ve been curious, or if you want to understand how they work before you commit, you deserve a space to ask those questions without feeling embarrassed. There are more options than most women realize, and one of them might make your month feel a whole lot simpler.

One thing I talk about all the time is how personal birth control really is. What works perfectly for one woman might make someone else feel completely off. Your age, your health, your cycle, your symptoms, and your goals all play a role in what’s actually a good fit for your body.

I meet so many women who tell me they tried one method years ago and felt terrible, so they assume every option will feel the same. It doesn’t have to be that way. There are hormonal options, non hormonal options, long term options, short term options, and even natural methods that rely on understanding your body’s patterns.

Cycle tracking and natural family planning can be a great fit for some women when done consistently and with real education. When you understand your cervical mucus, your ovulation window, and the natural rhythm of your cycle, it can be a safe and effective form of birth control. It isn’t for everyone, but for the right person it can offer a level of body awareness that feels empowering.

When you’re given real choices and real conversations, birth control becomes something that supports your life instead of getting in the way of it. You deserve a method that fits your body and your season of life, not the other way around.

Real self care doesn’t look like doing everything perfectly or creating a long routine that stresses you out. It’s much simpler. It’s giving yourself small moments your body can rely on. Eating meals that actually fill you. Taking a short walk to clear your head. Sitting down for a few quiet minutes with no agenda. Making a doctor’s appointment you’ve avoided. Letting yourself rest before you hit the point of burnout.

Women move through life carrying so much for the people around them that it becomes easy to ignore their own needs. But your body keeps score. Your hormones, your energy, your mood, and your sleep all respond to the small choices you make through the day.

Self care isn’t something you save for when you finally have time. It’s something you weave into real life in ways that support your health without adding pressure. Your body will always respond to the moments you choose to take care of it.

I think we forget how much our health improves when we have something in our lives that’s just for us. A hobby isn’t silly and it isn’t a waste of time. It’s a real break for your nervous system from the constant mental load so many women carry every day. When you give yourself something that brings joy or calm or even a little creativity, it changes the way the rest of your day feels.

Reading, painting, Pilates, gardening, baking, sewing, anything that feels like “you” again can give your body a chance to reset. Stress comes down. Sleep gets better. Your mood steadies in a way you can actually feel. These aren’t just nice moments. They’re real physiological shifts that support your health.
You deserve time for something that reminds you who you are outside of everything you manage for everyone else. Even fifteen minutes a few times a week can make a bigger difference than you’d expect.

Hydration sounds simple, but most women I talk to are walking around mildly dehydrated without realizing it. When life gets busy, it’s so easy to forget to drink enough water until the headache hits, your energy dips, or you find yourself craving snacks when you’re not truly hungry. I’ve noticed in my own life that even small changes in hydration show up in how clearly I think and how steady my energy feels.

Water plays a much bigger role in women’s health than people realize. It supports hormone balance, digestion, metabolism, and even the way your body handles stress. Dehydration can make PMS symptoms feel stronger, make you more irritable, and disrupt your sleep. Keeping a water bottle nearby, choosing drinks you actually enjoy, or adding electrolytes on the days you need them can make everything feel smoother. Small habits add up in big ways when it comes to how your body functions.

Good sleep doesn’t start the moment you lie down. It starts in the hour leading up to bed, and I’ve noticed that when I give myself even a simple routine, my body settles so much easier.

For me, that might look like a warm shower, turning the lights down, stretching for a few minutes, or reading instead of scrolling. Nothing fancy, just small things that help my mind shift out of the pace of the day. Even keeping a consistent bedtime has made a real difference.

Sleep plays a huge role in women’s health. It supports your hormones, your stress response, your metabolism, and even the way your cycle feels each month. When your sleep improves, everything else tends to feel a little steadier.

If you’ve been waking up tired or feeling wired at night, try giving yourself a calmer lead in to bedtime. It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to feel gentle and doable.

There’s something reassuring about taking an hour once a year just to focus on your own health. Your annual GYN visit isn’t just a check box. It’s an opportunity to talk about your cycles, breast health, sleep, stress, mood changes, and anything new you’ve noticed. So many women hold these conversations for months without realizing they don’t have to.

This visit is for you. It’s where you get answers, support, and a better understanding of what your body is doing. If it’s been a while, this might be the reminder you needed. Your health deserves time and attention too.

I know how fast a day can get away from you. You’re packing lunches, running kids around, handling work, and suddenly it’s midafternoon and you realize you haven’t eaten a real meal. When that happens, your body spends the rest of the day trying to catch up. Hunger gets louder. Cravings hit harder. Energy drops.

Your body does so much better when it’s fed at steady intervals. That might look like keeping easy protein snacks in the fridge, prepping something simple on Sundays, or doubling dinner so there’s always a lunch ready. It doesn’t have to be fancy. It just has to be available. Your whole family benefits when you’re nourished too.

I talk to so many women who carry quiet questions about their health and never feel like they have the space to unpack them. Maybe your cycles feel different. Maybe your mood or sleep has shifted. Maybe you’ve been having discomfort you keep pushing aside because life is busy. These things matter more than we’re taught to believe. Your body keeps track of everything, even when you don’t have time to.

A simple women’s health check in can make such a difference. It’s a chance to talk about what’s been going on, what feels off, and what your body might need. You don’t have to wait for something to feel urgent. You deserve support and clarity right now.
