Certified as a master gardener, he had sixteen apple trees in the back of his house, called “Keith’s Little Orchard.” At one time, he had 55 different varieties of apples growing on those sixteen trees, and also fifteen different varieties of stone fruit on three plum trees.

A funeral service will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Monday, October 6, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM. A vault interment will follow the service at Mt. Hope Cemetery.

She loved her Haines ranching community. She loved delivering goodies to neighbors and friends at Christmas. She always made a point of getting to know new neighbors when they moved in. She wanted them to know they could call on her and my dad for help, whether it be plowing them out after snowfalls, borrowing equipment, or being a listening ear.

Janice Hayhurst, 82, a resident of Haines, OR, died Friday at her home near Haines. A private family graveside service will be held at the Haines Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held in the summer of 2026; the date and time will be announced at that time. Services are under the direction of Coles Tribute Center.

The Ridenour family was very musically talented, all playing various instruments and singing while growing up under the direction of her father, who was referred to as “Fiddler”. While still a child, Doris and three siblings, along with their father, began playing on the radio in Idaho as “The Ozark Kids and Dad”.

Graveside services for Mrs. Alderson will be held today, Friday, September 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Baker City, OR.

Lyle’s first eight years of education were at the two-room McEwen School. The school yard had a merry-go-round, swings, and a sandbox, along with a horse barn and woodshed. But the students considered Sumpter Valley their true playground and, as such, were often late getting back to school after recess, because though the teacher would ring and ring the bell, the students were either too far away to hear or were having too much fun. Lyle’s mode of transportation to school was his horse, F***y.

A funeral service will be held for Lyle on Saturday, August 9, 2025, beginning at 1:00 PM. The service will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Baker City, Oregon.
