🚌✨ Great News for Baker City Riders! ✨🚌

Thanks to new public transit funding, our Baker City bus route is getting a schedule update starting January 5th, 2026! 🎉

📍 The Baker City bus is a fare-free deviated fixed-route service that travels throughout town to help you get to work, shopping, appointments, school, or wherever you need to go around town — all without paying a fare! 🚏💙

🕘 New Schedule (starting Jan 5):
• Monday–Friday: Service runs from 7:45 AM to 5:15 PM with buses departing about every 45 minutes, with a lunch break between 12:00–1:00 PM. 🍽️
• Saturday: Service runs from 8:30 AM to 5:15 PM, also with a lunch break 12:00–1:00 PM.

🚍 What’s a “deviated fixed-route”?
That means the bus follows a regular route and schedule, but can also make approved deviations to pick you up or drop you off near your destination — just call 541-523-7433 at least one business day ahead to schedule your deviation!

If you haven’t tried Baker City transit yet (or it’s been a while), this is a perfect time to hop aboard! 💛

Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a common type of mood disorder or depression characterized by its seasonal pattern. It affects millions of people in the U.S., usually beginning in the late fall and lasting into the spring or early summer.

SAD can be a serious mental health condition and may benefit from professional help.

Loneliness can be felt by anyone of any age, and the holiday season can be a particularly tough time. If you need support, help is just a phone call away.

The Senior Loneliness Line of Oregon is a free hotline that people ages 60+ can call when they want to talk to someone, for any reason. Your information is completely confidential, and no one will follow up with you unless you request a call.

The David Romprey Oregon Warmline or Oregon Youth Line, both available 24/7, can also offer confidential support for people experiencing loneliness.

🚌✨ Great News for Northeast Oregon Travelers! ✨🚌

Community Connection is excited to share that Northwestern Stage Lines will begin providing transportation service along I-84 starting December 15, 2025, effectively picking up where FlixBus (Greyhound) left off after they ended service along this corridor.

This means renewed intercity connections between Portland and Boise, with Northeast Oregon back on the map for long-distance bus travel! 🙌

More transit options help our rural communities stay connected, whether for medical appointments, family visits, work, education, or regional travel. We’re thrilled to see another agency stepping in to provide this much-needed service. 💛🚍

New Directions Northwest, Inc. is launching several su***de prevention training opportunities for our community members.
There are three different trainings, described on the linked flyer. Any community member can sign up to get put on the waiting list. Once we have several members signed up, we will then offer the class.

Would you like a group trained? Our trainers can provide trainings at your place of business to train employees, to community organizations, schools, and churches. This applies to to everyone throughout Baker County.
