Neck Pain Less Common with Healthy, Active Lifestyle.

A systematic review that included nine studies concluded that the risk for both new-onset and persistent non-specific neck pain is lower among individuals with an active lifestyle. Meanwhile, the review found that adults who are overweight or obese have a higher risk for both new-onset and persistent non-specific neck pain.

The Effect of Low Back Pain on the Hips and Lower Extremities.

A systematic review that included 54 studies found that individuals with non-specific low back pain often exhibit significant reductions in hip range of motion, particularly in internal rotation; weakness in the hip abductor and extensor muscles; and greater involvement of the hamstrings and gluteus maximus during functional activities.

A recent literature review identified the following lifestyle factors linked to an elevated risk for back pain: overweight/obesity, insomnia, smoking, excessive alcohol consumption, and physical inactivity.
