"No regrets. I don't miss glasses or contacts!"

Bakersfield optometrist Dr. Tyler Albert has lived most of his life with a -9.00 prescription, barely able to see the big "E" on the eye chart without wearing his glasses or contacts.

As an eye care provider, he knew his severe myopia, thin corneas, and large pupils meant LASIK was not ideal for him. That's why he chose the EVO ICL procedure at Empire Eye and Laser Center, where he refers his own patients for vision correction. Now he's enjoying 20/20 vision and living his best life, glasses- and contacts-free!

EVO ICL is an implantable lens that can correct a large range of nearsightedness with and without astigmatism through a quick, minimally invasive procedure. It's implanted between your iris (the colored part of the eye) and your natural lens, and it doesn't require the removal of corneal tissue. While it's meant to provide permanent vision correction, the lens can be removed through a simple procedure if ever needed, providing you with both flexibility and peace of mind for the future.

🫶 Thank you, Dr. Albert, for trusting us with your own eyes and letting us share your story. We're thrilled to see you enjoying your new visual freedom!

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION
The EVO Visian ICL lens is intended to correct/reduce nearsightedness between -3.0 D up to -20.0 D and treat astigmatism from 1.0 D to 4.0 D. If you have nearsightedness within these ranges, EVO Visian ICL surgery may improve your distance vision without eyeglasses or contact lenses. Because the EVO Visian ICL corrects for distance vision, it does not eliminate the need for reading glasses, you may require them at some point, even if you have never worn them before. Since implantation of the EVO Visian ICL is a surgical procedure, before considering EVO Visian ICL surgery you should have a complete eye examination and talk with your eye care professional about EVO Visian ICL surgery, especially the potential benefits, risks, and complications. You should discuss the time needed for healing after surgery. Complications, although rare, may include need for additional surgical procedures, inflammation, loss of cells from the back surface of the cornea, increase in eye pressure, and cataracts. You should NOT have EVO Visian ICL surgery if your doctor determines that 1) the shape of your eye is not appropriate, 2) you do not meet the minimum endothelial cell density for your age at the time of implantation, 3) you have moderate to severe glaucoma, 4) your vision is not stable; or 5) if you are pregnant or nursing.

Are you over 40 and find yourself constantly reaching for reading glasses? 👓 Tired of juggling different pairs for seeing near and far?

You might be the perfect candidate for Refractive Lens Exchange (RLE)! RLE is a procedure that can reduce or even eliminate your need for glasses and contacts by addressing vision at all distances.

By replacing the eye's natural lens (the one causing those frustrating focus issues!) with an advanced technology lens implant, RLE can correct nearsightedness, farsightedness, AND the age-related need for reading glasses (presbyopia) in one procedure.

📲👀 Digital Screen Tips For Kids (and adults 🫵)

1️⃣ Keep an arm's length distance between your child's eyes and the screen. Viewing a screen too close will cause eye strain.
2️⃣ Remind your child to be conscious of blinking to avoid letting their eyes dry out too much.
3️⃣ Have a curfew for screen time. Allow 1-2 hours of no screen time before bed.
4️⃣ 20-20-20 Rule. Every 20 minutes, take a 20-second break from your screen and look at something 20 feet away from you.
5️⃣ Allow for 1-2 hours per day outside and away from any screens.

Keeping these tips in mind will help you keep your child's (and your) eye health in good shape when it comes to screen time. 👁️

Your lifestyle is unique. Your vision after cataract surgery should be too! ✨

When it comes to cataract surgery, one size does not fit all. The type of lens implant (IOL) you receive plays a huge role in whether you'll need glasses for activities like reading, using the computer, or seeing things far away.

That's why we start with a conversation about YOU. By understanding your hobbies, work, and vision priorities, we can recommend the lens that will best match your daily life.

Don't just dream about better vision, let's design it together. Contact Empire Eye and Laser Center to learn more about personalized cataract surgery.

Will you need glasses after LASIK?

The goal of laser vision correction is to correct your prescription so you don't need glasses or contacts, and most patients are able to enjoy many years of crystal-clear vision after surgery.

However, LASIK does not prevent future age-related changes in your vision, which many people begin to experience in their 40s. As your eyes' lenses naturally lose their flexibility with age, it becomes harder to focus on near objects. This is called presbyopia, and whether you've had LASIK or not, you'll probably end up needing reading glasses eventually.

What do you want to know about LASIK? Let us know in the comments below or DM us to schedule a FREE consultation! 🤩

🚗 Is driving at night becoming a challenge due to glare? Seeing the world a bit hazy or dim? 🤔 It could be cataracts.

This June, for Cataract Awareness Month, we're shedding light on this common condition. Cataracts occur when the eye's natural lens becomes cloudy, leading to symptoms like blurry vision and increased glare, significantly impacting daily activities like driving.

If any of this sounds familiar, it's time for an eye exam. The team at Empire Eye and Laser Center is here to help you explore your options.
