The measles outbreak in Texas and New Mexico has resulted in multiple hospitalizations and one confirmed death - and continues to spread. The outbreak reminds us that measles is very contagious but can be prevented by timely vaccination. Make sure your kids ages 12 through 15 months of age get their first dose of MMR and children 4 through 6 years of age with their second dose.
Infants 6 through 11 months of age who are traveling internationally or going to outbreak areas should receive an early, extra dose of MMR vaccine.
