“I lost everything...my home, my hope, my purpose. Then I walked into The Mission.”
Lee, a U.S. Marine veteran, spent decades battling addiction.
Today, he’s sober, smiling, and full of faith. A living story of grace and second chances.

🇺🇸 This Memorial Day, help more veterans like Lee find home, healing, and hope.

Today, we remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice made possible so many of the freedoms we experience each day.

At The Mission at Kern County, we’re especially grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in a way that reflects dignity, compassion, and hope.

As we spend time with family, gather around tables, and enjoy the day, may we also pause to remember those who never made it home 🇺🇸
Wishing you a meaningful Memorial Day ❤️🤍💙

One year ago, the Director of our Women & Children’s Program, Susan Hodge, was given devastating news: multiple types of lung cancer, spreading from her lung tissue to the fluid around her lungs and into her lymph nodes. Her doctor told her she had a 1% chance of recovery. Susan held to a deeper truth - doctors have the training, but God has the final answer - and whether healed or not, she vowed to be the example for the women recovering from addiction and trauma: don’t quit.

After a year of chemo and treatment, Susan has missed very few days of work and has continued to serve Jesus and share her testimony through the storm. Her latest PET scan showed almost no disease - only two very small spots remain. She isn’t in complete remission, but the miracle is real. Where there was once “1%,” now there is Susan - living proof of hope, perseverance, and faith.

Please join us in celebrating Susan: leave an encouraging note below, share this post to spread hope, and thank God with us for this incredible blessing.

‼️ One of the most remarkable recent milestones has been the expungement of 11 criminal cases and the reduction of his sole felony to a misdemeanor, representing years of hard work, perseverance, and transformation.

Along with the expungement, Niko also recently celebrated 14 years of dedicated service at The Mission at Kern County, where he continues to faithfully serve and encourage others walking through their own recovery journey. 🫂
