Something big is rolling into Kern County... and tomorrow is the official kickoff! 🚐💨

Our goal is to raise $15,000 to get the ACE Vision Van on the road, bringing high-quality eye care directly to students in our outlying school districts. Your support helps cover the vital "impact costs," the fuel, the medical staff, and the high-quality lenses needed to reach children in communities like Ridgecrest and Taft.

80% of what a child learns in school is presented visually. But for 1 in 4 students in Kern County, that information is a blur. 📉📚

At Advanced Center for Eyecare, we believe no child’s potential should be limited by their lack of access to eye care. Last year, our School-Based Vision Centers provided nearly 600 eye exams and 500 pairs of glasses to students who might have otherwise fallen behind.

We’ve seen it firsthand: when the world comes into focus, a child’s posture changes, their confidence returns, and their future opens up.

But we aren’t finished. While we serve two large districts, there are 46 districts in Kern County. Many students in our remote areas still do not have affordable access to the eye care they need to thrive.

This year, for our 15th Anniversary, we are raising $15,000 to put our new Vision Van into motion. Your gift during provides the fuel, the medical staff, and the lenses to reach every corner of our county.

🎉 Wow, Kern County! Your generosity has been incredible, and the matching funds have been fully utilized! Thank you to everyone who helped us reach that milestone. We've raised nearly $6,000 so far, bringing our Vision Van into clearer focus! 👀

But the need is still significant. Did you know that 1 in 4 children has a vision problem? And in Kern County, 4 out of 10 families struggle to make ends meet, making access to essential eye care a real challenge, especially in our vast rural areas (Kern is California's third largest county!).

Our school-based vision centers and Bakersfield clinic are making a real difference, but there are so many more children in areas like Ridgecrest, Lake Isabella, and Taft who need our help. 💝 It’s official — Give Big Kern 2025 is underway, and we’re so excited to kick things off this morning!

Kern County’s Day of Giving is just two weeks away (May 6!), but early donations are already being accepted — and this year, we’re rallying support for something big: our brand-new Vision Van campaign! 🚐✨

As the only nonprofit eye care provider in the Central Valley, ACE has spent the last 14 years making sight-restoring care accessible and affordable to thousands of uninsured and underinsured individuals across Kern County. Now, we’re hoping to hit the road to do even more by bringing free eye exams and glasses directly to students in Kern’s most remote, underserved communities.

80% of vision impairment can be prevented or cured, and for those fortunate enough to have health insurance, a sight-restoring procedure like cataract surgery is not difficult to come by.

But what if you start to lose your vision and you don't have health insurance or the means to pay for surgery out of pocket? A deaf grandmother who could no longer read lips or see her grandchildren's faces... a young painter who could no longer pursue her art... a dad who could no longer work and provide for this family... these are just some of the individuals who had all but given up hope before ACE's Surgical Grant Program changed their lives.
