A lot can be found when you have your family tree done. If you’ve done your DNA but have no idea how all those people are related, have your family tree done and discover those links.
The Family Tree book will consist of every generation I am able to document, from your parents back usually 6-8 generations. It will include a Family Group sheet for each family in a generation (think 2 grandparents, 4 great grandparents, 8 gg grandparents, etc.) your direct line is shown, but the siblings will be listed. Documents such as census records, birth, death and marriage certificates as found, newspaper articles, military records, pictures of headstones that can be found, and pictures that are available are included.
These books can help you to join a lineage society ( Daughters of the American Revolution) or just show how your family moved around the country.
It’s a great keepsake, gift, or a way to show how your English ancestors were indentured servants who came to the colonies and started to be woven into the fabric of America.

It’s been awhile since I posted. Why not have your family tree researched and find out where and when your family came to the United States? Today I found my 8th great grandfather, Peter Stephens, was the first settler in the town of Stephens City, VA. In 1732 he acquired 780 acres in the Shenandoah Valley, and this town is the second oldest in the Shenandoah.
How interesting to have a stake in the history of this nation and have a new place on my list of places to go.

My great grandparents, Arthur Horn and Mandy Shackelford Horn. They had three daughters, a stillborn named Eunice, Ruth and V. Ruth and Mandy both died in the Flu Epidemic of 1918, leaving Arthur with 11 year old V. Their family unit was one that built the foundation of my family today.
