Your Kern County Firefighters want to wish a big congratulations to Ryan Hansen (Firefighter/Paramedic, Kern County Fire Department), Jaden Davis (Firefighter/Paramedic, Santa Barbra County Fire Department), and Reid Zierenberg for completing the IRONMAN this month— a tremendous achievement. They dedicated their race in honor of a loved one.
Ryan Hansen grew up in a fire department family with Jason Hansen (Father) and Darren Hansen (Brother) who both work for Ventura County Fire Department.
On February 9, 2024, two days before Ryan started his career as a Kern County Firefighter, Ryan’s twin brother Blake Hansen (22 y/o), was involved in a helicopter crash doing what he loved most. Blake was an intelligent and driven rotor wing pilot with big dreams that some would say were out of his reach for his age. His passion for aviation drove him to prove himself in the sky. On the ground Blake was a funny and loyal Son, Brother, Friend, and Uncle.
On February 9, 2025, Ryan and his family launched the Blake Hansen Foundation ( in his honor and, his love for aviation. With the goal of raising money to fund scholarship donations for aspiring aviators for Blake’s alumni University where he studied and graduated with a degree in aerospace sciences.
To bring attention and advertisement to the movement of the Foundation (BHF), Ryan began training for a full distance IRONMAN race in October 2024. Dedicating his race and an entire year of physical, mental, and emotional stamina in honor of his twin brother Blake and his ongoing legacy.
On October 19, 2025 Ryan, with the support of 2 close friends Jaden Davis (SBC Firefighter/Paramedic) and Reid Zierenberg, completed the IRONMAN race.
Anything is possible.
