đź’™ What Is Hospice Care? đź’™

Hospice care is about comfort, dignity, and quality of life when someone is facing a life-limiting illness. It focuses on caring for the person, not just the diagnosis.

Hospice provides:
• Pain and symptom management
• Emotional and spiritual support
• Support for family and caregivers
• Care wherever you call home

Hospice does not mean giving up — it means choosing comfort, peace, and support during a difficult season.

Our goal is to help patients live as fully and comfortably as possible, surrounded by the people they love.

If you or someone you care about has questions about hospice, we’re here to help guide you through every step. 🤍

Bakersfield Community Healthcare Adult Activity Center rang in the New Year in style!

Participants counted down to "noon-night" with smiles all around, followed by a festive balloon drop and nonstop fun.

With DJ Brodi Da Shawn Harris, aka our very own Activity Coordinator, Robby Harris, on the turntables, the dance floor stayed full as they danced, line-danced, and waved glow sticks.
They even took it back in time and had a Soul Train line. Robby played crowd favorites, and afterwards, a few brave stars even jumped in for karaoke!

The NYE celebration wrapped up with a delicious lunch of enchiladas, beans, and rice, a special singing of Happy Birthday to all of our December birthdays, and sweet cookies to top it all off.

It was a day filled with laughter, music, movement, and community—exactly the way the New Year should begin.

Part 2
Season of Comfort
Taft, CA

As we look back on our Season of Comfort remembrance event, our hearts are full. The evening was incredibly special for the Taft community—a space to pause, reflect, and honor the loved ones we carry with us, especially during the holidays when emotions can feel heavier.

We are deeply grateful to Photographer Stephanie Stewart, who so generously donated her time and talent to capture these meaningful moments. Through her lens, the love, remembrance, and sense of community shared that night will live on.

At Bakersfield Community Hospice, we are truly thankful for the opportunity to serve the Taft community. Being invited into this space of remembrance is an honor we do not take lightly.

Grief has no timeline—and during the holidays, it can sometimes hit harder and more unexpectedly. We want the Taft community to know that you are not alone, and that support, understanding, and compassion are always here when you need them.

Thank you, Taft, for trusting us, welcoming us, and allowing us to walk alongside you during this season of remembrance. 🤍🕯️

The Season of Comfort event hosted by Bakersfield Community Hospice was a powerful evening of remembrance, healing, and connection.

Families gathered to share the stories of their loved ones—speaking their names out loud, honoring their lives, and acknowledging their loss. Whether the loss was recent or many years ago, and regardless of the circumstances, Bakersfield Community Hospice was there to listen, to hold space, and to offer comfort and hope through the journey of grief.

The city of Taft welcomed B*H with open arms, and the evening was made even more meaningful with a special message of support from Mayor, Dave Noerr. We are deeply thankful for the warmth and hospitality of the Taft community, and especially for the opportunity to gather at the historic Taft Historic Fort, a place rich with history and heart.

Local Taft businesses generously donated refreshments and services, helping make this very first Season of Comfort event truly special. Their kindness and community spirit were felt in every detail of the evening.

Thank you to the following businesses that partnered with us to bring an extra touch of love:
Mercy Plaza Pharmacy
Self Brewed Coffee House
Ivy Park at Seven Oaks
Magnolia Place
Gre8t Heritage Printing
Stephanie Stewart Photography
Phast Pharmacy
Patriot Woodworx
Ray Cruz 3d Printing
Southwest Signs
Sequoia Senior Placement
American Legion Post 63
Taft Historic Fort
A heartfelt thank you to the Community Christian Fellowship praise and worship team for providing beautiful, soul-stirring music that gently carried us through moments of reflection and remembrance.

Special appreciation goes to Bakersfield Community Healthcare Community & Veteran Liaison Justina Cruz-Howell, a proud Taft native, for organizing this meaningful event in her hometown and bringing comfort back to her community.

We are also grateful to Bakersfield Community Hospice Chaplain Chris Frost for sharing his wisdom, compassion, and insight on loss and grief, offering words that resonated deeply with all who attended.

To the Taft community: thank you for trusting us, welcoming us, and allowing Bakersfield Community Healthcare to walk alongside you. Your stories, your love, and your resilience are what made this Season of Comfort truly unforgettable.

Get you a group of friends who aren't afraid to be silly while giving back to the community.

Bakersfield Community Healthcare community and veteran liaison Justina Cruz-Howell teamed up with her tribe of friends, called the "Redwoods Women's Group" for a holiday celebration like no other, the first ever
"Jolly Jingle Parade"

Together they brought holiday magic, music, laughter, and everyone's favorite inflatable costumes straight to our senior living communities. From Jingle Bells to belly laughs, they made memories that will last far beyond the season.

Bakersfield Community Healthcare is grateful for our amazing community partners with big hearts, with representatives ranging from Downtown Business Association, Powerhub Bakersfield, Golden State Mortgage, Boys and Girls Club of Bakersfield, North of the River Recreation, Exp Realty, Access Capital, BelFor Bakersfield, Son Light Construction, Trucordia Insurance, The Motherhood Project, April McGill Photography, Charcuterie by M, and so many others in the community who were so happy to join us in bringing smiles to the faces of our senior community.
