I commissioned this beautiful piece of art from . Wander, as we call her, is an amazing artist!!

Wander is color blind and uses music to guide her art!! My goal was to have Wander’s colorful style come out in the art piece.

I described to her that I wanted a baby and placenta, and told her to make it in her style, and this is what she created. I didn’t tell her how to place the baby, and as you can see, the baby is in the breech presentation.

This is a magnificent piece of art!!

She had no idea how meaningful this piece became! Since I don’t talk about the births that I attend, she had no idea that a client, I attended, had given birth to a surprise breech baby less than a month before I commissioned this piece!!

It was almost as if I was being told: you have now entered into the realm not many people see anymore due to restrictions placed on midwives, here is some art to remember your first surprise breech birth. (In California licensed midwives cannot attend diagnosed/known breech births)

Because I commissioned this piece, I was given the honor of naming her.
She is lovingly called:
