Kern County Genealogical Society The Kern County Genealogical Society is dedicated to the preservation and research of family history Many more people joined over the years.

KCGS was formed April, 1964 with 57 Charter members joining. Of these Joyce Bayless is the only member of this group that is a current member. Today we have a total of 95 current members. Our society is active and is involved in the community. We welcome everyone to join and participate in a fun activity. Hours noted are for the Genealogy Library on the second floor of Beale Library.

In each family, there is one who seems called to find the ancestors, to put flesh on their bones and make them live again, to tell the family story and to feel that somehow they know and approve. Doing genealogy is not a cold gathering of facts, but instead, breathing life into all who have gone before. We are the storytellers of the tribe.
