By 2030, nearly half of the Medicare Advantage-eligible population will be aged 75 or older, raising concerns about a potential eldercare crisis amid labor shortages. Increased healthcare utilization in 2023, influenced by delayed care due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other acute factors, suggests a possible shift towards a new normal. In addition to higher utilization and workforce solutions, a move towards next-generation care models, leveraging technology and data for personalized care through wearables, remote monitoring, and telehealth, is also expected. This recent article from McKinsey & Company, “The Future of Medicare Advantage,” highlights five key trends payers must consider as they navigate these changes in 2024:

On behalf of everyone at Connect America and our family of companies, we want to thank you again for the trust you placed in us this past year to support the seniors and vulnerable populations in your care.

If you happen to have a spare minute of two, let’s check in on our senior or at-risk neighbors to make sure they have what they need to feel less isolated and more secure over the coming days. A small gesture like dropping off a personalized card, clearing a snowy walkway, or having a quick chat over a cup of coffee can mean so much to the older adults in our lives, especially at this time of year.

Wishing you all a joyful holiday season and healthy new year!

Today we pause to give thanks to our customers and partner programs across North America for choosing Connect America and our family brand of companies to protect their loved ones and community members. We are also grateful to our dedicated employees who are passionate about supporting the older adults and vulnerable populations we serve, so they can live more independently and securely in the homes they love. Being alone can leave older adults more vulnerable to loneliness and social isolation, which can affect their health and well-being. Studies have shown that loneliness and social isolation are associated with higher risks for health problems such as heart disease, depression, and cognitive decline.

This is why it is critical for aging and vulnerable populations to stay socially connected. However, for those living alone or in a care facility, this can sometimes be challenging.

But with connected health technologies, such as PERS, RPM or AI-virtual health assistance, users can access 24/7 assistance and support, which always includes a human connection who is available to interact anytime. Whether it’s a call to request assistance, transportation to the doctor, or just a simple request to talk, our connected health technologies and services help keep seniors safely connected with their families, friends, and communities — all from the comfort of their homes.
