After I read about her story, I just had to reach out.
I was so happy to meet Maleigha after reading about her story I reachrd out to the Autism Treatment Center of San Antonio and then met her in person. Maleigha was sweet and very appreciative of the Spin Art piece.
I hope Maleigha continues her artistic journey.
Stories that make you smile --> As a behavior specialist at SAISD and the father of a son with autism, Michael Foster knows how hard it can be for kids on the spectrum to connect with others. After seeing the ATC newsletter story about 12-year-old Maleigha, one of our Art for Autism artists, Michael wanted to do something to support and encourage her.
During the first part of the pandemic, he took up Spin Art as a way to relieve his anxiety. His therapeutic hobby turned into a fun way to make extra money and help others. (check out his art at Mimoni Spin Art Creations)
Every month he gives away free Spin Art, so he reached out to ATC to say that he wanted to include Maleigha in his November giveaway. We contacted Maleigha’s mom to get her permission and find out what colors Maleigha wanted for her painting. A few days before Thanksgiving, Michael met Maleigha and her mother at ATC to deliver his gift. 😊
