The past several weeks have been very difficult for our family. Not only have we lost our home of 21 years, but a Baldwin institution for 85 years.
The Weigand family took an 80 year old home in 1940 and turned it into a place of comfort and service for so many families in Baldwin and surrounding communities. The Pensa family continued their legacy and the Cecere Family took over the responsibility of caring for Baldwin's grieving in 2004.
We are humbled by all the comments of support and the memories that have been shared how loved one's have been cared for by this institution.
Keep in mind that our family will continue to care for families who need us.
When you speak of the changes that are happening, keep in mind that there are people and circumstances that you know nothing about and kindness and compassion go a long way in this life. Decisions, albeit difficult ones, have to be made by all of us every day.
I'm leaving the comments open here and would like to hear how this building has served you or your family, whether by the Weigands, Pensas or Ceceres. The negative ones will be delted. My grandmothrr used to say that if you don't have annything nice to say...
Feel free to reach out and personally share memories if "social media" is not your thing. If you see any of us, myself, my Dad or my daughter Michelle around town, and you will, say hi or share a memory.
My very own Mother, Margaret was waked there in 2014. My Grandma Mary in 2017 at 103 years young! Beth's dad Philip D'Angelo, and her brother and sister, Phil and Barbara.
I've shed tears with many of you there and believe me, what we do is not just a "job". Mom used to say "Michael, what we do is a vocation", and we take it very seriously, so we know how hard this is for all of us.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and God Bless.
