Today, St. Joseph’s Health held its annual Celebration of Life ceremony honoring EMS providers for their role in out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) saves.
Survival to hospital discharge after OHCA remains less than 10% nationwide — which makes every life saved truly extraordinary.
We are incredibly proud to share that members of the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps were recognized for their roles in three separate life-saving responses.

❄️🔥 The B'ville Big Chill definitely lived up to its name!

While some of us stood by for public safety, The Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps also had a team out braving the cold—and proving that frostbite is just a state of mind 😅

Despite the freezing temps, the energy was high, the smiles were plenty, and everyone had an awesome time.

Big shoutout to the Greater Baldwinsville Chamber of Commerce and the Baldwinsville Rotary for putting together such a fantastic event. The Village of Baldwinsville knows how to chill in style! 🧊💪

Congratulations to our Medical Director, Dr. Sarsfield, on successfully passing the board certification exam, becoming a Board-Certified EMS Physician. Our agency is proud to congratulate him on this achievement, which reflects years of dedication to prehospital medicine and steadfast support of our providers and community. Meet Dr. James Mangano and Dr. Matthew Sarsfield. Neither began their journey here as physicians! Dr. Mangano was a PA, and Dr. Sarsfield started as an ED nurse before pursuing medical school right here at Upstate.

Today, Dr. Sarsfield works alongside the same ED nurses he once stood beside, bringing unique insight and respect for the nursing perspective in patient care.

Their journeys are proof that at Upstate, your career path can evolve in inspiring ways. 💙

Last night, the Greater Baldwinsville Ambulance Corps came together for an informal gathering to celebrate our incredible team and recognize those who have dedicated many years of service to our community. 💚🚑

We were proud to honor Anne-Marie Howell, who celebrates an amazing 50 years in EMS! Anne-Marie received a special award from GBAC and a proclamation from Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon, presented by Director of Emergency Management Jeff VanBeveren. 👏

We also recognized 43 year member David Weller, past Director of Operations and current Board Member, for his many years of service. David was presented with a commemorative watch as he prepares to step down from the Board this year.
