Our Story

Experience the inner peace and contentment you’ve been longing for. Barbara teaches both kundalini yoga and traditional hatha yoga and offers meditation classes and consultations drawing upon the ancient wisdom traditions as a path to realize your true inner gifts. This full integration of body, mind and spirit is beyond the confines of any organized religion.

Barbara founded the Innersanctuary in 2000. She has been practicing, teaching, studying and researching the profound effects of yoga for the past 30 years. She has completed a three-month retreat in Nepal at the Shyalpa Monastery with direct teachings from her root teacher, H.E. Shyalpa Rinpoche. In 2000 she was given the name ‘Pema Dechen’ meaning the ‘Great Blissful Lotus’. She has also traveled to India and blends her yogic knowledge with direct experiential knowledge from her travels and teachings from Shyalpa Rinpoche.

Her most recent undertaking is to delve deeper into the mind through the study of kundalini yoga and is certified as a kundalini yoga practitioner through the Kundalini Research Institute (KRI) and was given the name ‘Siri Kirin Kaur’ meaning the ‘Great Ray of Light’.

Barbara has a B.S. in Holistic Healing. She is certified in advanced meditation techniques and spiritual advising through KRI. She is a 500hr RYT experienced yoga teacher and trainer and has been a Licensed Massage Therapist for 20 years and is certified in varous alternative healing modalities.
