Another wonderful woman in our community of Ballston Spa businesses. We love Betsy & Nourish-a beautiful store with a beautiful background story.

✨Next up in the series of recognizing my 2026 Women of Distinction is: Betsy Seplowitz!✨

Betsy Seplowitz is the owner and artist behind Nourish Designs, an artisan gift shop in the Village of Ballston Spa where art, community, and purpose converge. Betsy turned her hobby of sketching as a stay at home mom into a thriving business for a good cause. She creates intricate hand-drawn pen and ink patterns that are the heart of everything Nourish represents.

Seven years ago, Betsy set out with a simple but powerful intention: to use her art to make a difference for children in Upstate New York struggling with food insecurity. What began in November 2019 as a small venture has grown into something truly remarkable, surviving a pandemic, expanding to e-commerce, and opening a beloved storefront that has become a true community gathering place.

Every purchase at Nourish funds a specific number of meals for kids in partnership with the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, and to date, Nourish has funded nearly 400,000 meals for kids in need.

Betsy's business inspires kindness, creativity, mindfulness and collective care, and she is living proof that consistent small steps lead to big things.

Please join me in congratulating Betsy!👏

This month, instead of default celebrations, we’re choosing reflection. We’re thinking of the people who shaped us, steadied us, stood by us, and sacrificed for us, whether they’re still here or only in memory.

Gratitude doesn’t need a calendar, and remembrance doesn’t need a headline. Just a quiet, intentional pause for the ones who matter most.

If this sounds like what you need, come join us at .

What’s yours?

Melodie Beattie holds a special place in my heart. Fresh out of college & in my first addiction counseling job, her work guided me. All these years later, it still does.

I have all of her books, but Journey to the Heart is my favorite.

This is my second copy-my first was so loved it had to be retired. I’ve gifted or recommended it too many times to remember.

This is the book that no matter when I have read from it over the last 30 years, someone in the room responds-it may be a nodding of the head or a “Can I take a picture of this?” or a wiping away of a tear or reaching out to me later.

But isn’t this what it is all about-the journey to the heart, coming back to ourselves-our true selves?
