Spiritual rest is probably not something you think of often. This involves reconnecting our brain and our body. This also involves checking in with our intentions and how we live those intentions. Spiritual rest can be achieved with meditation and/or prayer, volunteering for a cause you care about, or getting out into nature. If meditation is something you are unfamiliar with or not sure how to meditate, I would love to help you!

We all know what it feels like to have our social batteries drained. Living through covid and isolation has changed the capacity for social interaction for many of us. Let go of guilt for needing time alone. Take that time and enjoy it. Again, practicing self care, getting sessions with me, spending time in nature are all wonderful ways to get social rest.

We actually have creative demands on us every day. We need a rest from that occasionally as well. Ironically, getting rest from these creative demands often involves being creative. But take time to be creative in a fun way. Put time into a hobby. Enjoy art without creating it, or create something fun! Observe the beauty of nature. These things will serve as inspiration and renew your creativity.

🌍 Happy Earth Day! 🌿 As a rest specialist, I believe that taking care of ourselves goes hand in hand with caring for our planet. Just as we need rest to recharge and thrive, our Earth also needs our care and attention to flourish.

Let's take a moment today to appreciate the beauty of nature and reflect on how we can support sustainability in our daily lives. Whether it's practicing mindfulness outdoors, reducing waste, or supporting eco-friendly initiatives, every small step makes a difference.

Remember, through nurturing ourselves and our environment, we create a harmonious balance that benefits us all. Let's celebrate Earth Day with a renewed commitment to restful living and a greener planet! 🌱💚

We are constantly exposed to light, sounds, and other stimuli that can overwhelm our nervous system. Taking sensory rest means unplugging, closing our eyes, finding quiet or soothing sounds. Things like meditation, walks in nature, naps, and float tanks are wonderful ways to get sensory rest.

Emotional rest is when we take a break from our current emotional demands. This could look like avoiding a stressful situation, talking to a friend or seeking mental health support. This can also include working on communication and expressing our emotions. Even better, getting some self care time or sessions with me.

Mental rest can be a challenging type of rest to achieve. Some people think of mental rest as zoning out. But I think that is avoidant. Mental rest is more about a break from constant stimulation. This could be a social media break or time away from the computer. Mental rest works well when combined with other types of rest like creative rest and sensory rest.

Physical rest is typically the first to mind when we consider rest. Most think of sleep, which is a very important type of rest. Sleep is considered passive physical rest. But there are other ways to get physical rest. Some options are yoga, stretching, and massage. (Naps are always good too.)
