NAMI@UMB is hosting an In Our Own Voice presentation for International Women’s Day on March 8th from 7-8pm on Zoom! This is event is in collaboration with NAMI Metropolitan Baltimore and is an opportunity to hear the lived experience of people with mental health conditions. It is a great chance to ask questions in a way we may not typically get to ask clients, patients, or loved ones. We are hosting our annual Journey Through Schizophrenia workshop with local non-profit, Seizing Psych on February 28th from 6:30-7:45pm on Zoom! This event presents an honest, interactive discussion about mental illness and family and professional responsibilities and decisions.

The workshop will offer a directed exercise in empathy and understanding of psychosis, educational information about schizophrenia, mental health, the lived experience of mental illness, and open discussion. Register through UMBengaged at https://cglink.me/2nF/r1488053.

💌 Everyone deserves a mailbox full of kindness. Until Saturday, Feb. 19, stop by 1 of 3 letter writing stations in the SMC Campus Center & write a kindness letter that will be mailed to Love For Our Elders, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering belonging & hope in older generations.

Please join us in collaboration with URecFit & Wellness and the Student Counseling Center to celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week, February 13th-19th. Volunteer to write a letter to be mailed to Love For Our Elders by visiting a Kindness Letter Campaign Station located in URecFit and Wellness, the Student Counseling Center, or near the Campus Center Bookstore on the 1st floor of the SMC Campus Center.�

In times of high anxiety or during a panic attack, it can be hard to take a deep breath. Having something to sync your breath with can lower anxiety or stop a panic attack because it quiets your sympathetic nervous system. 💛
