Stanley Nwogwugwu holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD.) in Social Work from Morgan State University and Master of Arts (M.A.) in Counseling from Franciscan University, Steubenville Ohio. Dr. Nwogwugwu is a licensed clinical professional counselor supervisor (LCPC-S); licensed clinical addiction counselor Supervisor (LCADC-S) and National Board certified counselor (NBCC).
Dr. Nwogwugwu’ s clinical focus at ILTS is on client’s that present co-occurring disorders. His therapeutic process begins with an assessment, while considering cultural and social factors that maybe impacting the presenting problem. Using an integrative approach to treatment and interweaving elements of dynamic, cognitive, behavioral, and family systems theories, Dr. Nwogwugwu helps clients understand and work on changing self-defeating patterns. When working with Dr. Nwogwugwu, clients are offered a space to explore and challenge themselves, and are provided with the tools, insight and empowerment to create a more fulfilling, functional life. Dr. Nwogwugwu has also completed training on the impact of mental health on sexual health.
Inspired by nearly 13 years spent working with client’s in the inner City of Baltimore, Maryland, Dr. Nwogwugwu’ s doctoral research focused on understanding depressive symptoms and the use of ma*****na on adolescents and adults. Dr. Nwogwugwu is passionate about educating other clinicians about depressive symptoms related to ma*****na use and providing consultation on patient plans of care
