We know her!!! You rock Vania!

Happy CRNA Week! Check out our second staff highlight with Vania Milnes, CRNA, about what drew her to her position and what she loves most about the Children’s Center:

“I was drawn to nurse anesthesia because it combines critical thinking, hands-on skills, and the ability to make an immediate difference for patients. My background in the PICU naturally led me to anesthesia, where I could continue caring for complex pediatric patients in a focused, meaningful way.

What I love most about being a pediatric CRNA at Johns Hopkins is the people and the patients. I get to work with an incredible team while caring for some of the most medically complex kids, and I take a lot of pride in helping families feel safe during stressful moments. Even after 12 years, it’s still work I find rewarding every day.”

Go Alyson Mesisca!!!

Happy Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA) Week!

We’re proud to recognize CRNAs for their expertise, dedication, and compassionate care—helping patients feel safe and supported when it matters most.

Hear more from Alyson Greene, CRNA, about what drew her to this role and why she loves working with pediatric patients at the Children’s Center:

“I was drawn to this job while working as a nurse in the ICU. I had never interacted with anesthesia providers until working in the unit, and I loved the idea of furthering my education with the focus being on pharmacology and critical care while also getting to maintain the one-on-one 'hands on' care that I loved about being an ICU nurse.

I would go on to learn that working in pediatrics allowed me to continue practicing in the caregiver role that I so loved about being a nurse as well, which was an added bonus! I have been doing this for 10 years and have loved working in pediatrics the entire time, because I love the balance it strikes in that way.

All of these things make up what I love about my job; I get to take care of all kinds of kids for all kinds of procedures and provide comfort to them and their families on their hardest days. And having awesome coworkers is the cherry on top!”
