September is National Recovery Month 💜
A time to celebrate healing, support those on their journey, and remind everyone that recovery is possible.
Substance abuse doesn’t just affect behavior—it takes a deep toll on both mental and cardiovascular health. It can fuel depression, anxiety, cognitive decline, and even psychosis, while also increasing the risk of suicide—especially when mental illness goes untreated.
At the same time, substance use strains the heart, raising the risk of heart attacks, strokes, arrhythmias, and serious infections—sometimes even after short-term use.
Let’s break the stigma, amplify support, and recognize that recovery is not only real—it’s worth celebrating.

Let’s raise awareness, honor those affected, and support the fight for better care, understanding, and research. Alzheimer’s doesn’t just affect memory — it deeply impacts mental health, causing confusion, mood changes, depression, and even psychosis as it progresses. What many don’t realize is that Alzheimer’s and heart health are closely connected. Shared risk factors like high blood pressure, diabetes, and poor circulation can worsen cognitive decline and speed up the progression of the disease. Let’s work together to protect both brain and heart health, and stand by the millions of individuals and families impacted.
