Throwback to 8/9/2019, when Lora and Lauren were out on a boat ride, dreaming about what could be. That day, the idea for Lola’s Village was born — a vision rooted in healing, connection, and community. (Fun fact: the name Lola’s comes from the Lo in Lora and the La in Lauren.)
That dream has since grown into Lola’s Counseling Center, and we’re proud to be expanding to nine clinicians.

Our mission is to provide a safe space where individuals can show up authentically, face life’s challenges, develop healthy resources, and create the life and relationships they desire.

What started as a simple idea on the water has turned into something truly meaningful. We’re so grateful for this journey and the lives we continue to walk alongside.

⚠️Warning Signs⚠️

1. Irritability: an increase in sensitivity to stimuli resulting in increased annoyance, frustration, and anger can be a sign that a person is experiencing a reduced state of emotional control and may be experiencing distress or discomfort

2. Sleeping problems: not getting enough sleep, sleeping too much, and low quality of sleep are elements of sleep hygiene that can serve as indicators when assessing if someone may be struggling with their mental health

3. Low energy: someone presenting with low energy may be a sign that they are struggling with their sleep hygiene, and it may also be a sign that they feel less motivated and less empowered, both of which may be signs that someone is experiencing mental health challenges

4. Changes in eating habits: all bodies need nutrition in order to carry out their physiological functions, and changes in eating habits such as restrictive eating, binge eating, and other disordered eating can be a more physical sign of mental health challenges

5. Isolation: mental health struggles thrive in isolation as mental health stigmas may lead to feelings of shame and guilt. If someone is isolating from their loved ones, activities they enjoy, and other parts of their lives, it may be a sign that they are struggling with mental health issues and are worried that they are the problem.

Being knowledgeable of warning signs can help us all be more aware and empathetic to mental health struggles, can decrease the stigma surrounding mental health and asking for help, can increase the likelihood of someone asking for support, and ultimately, can save lives.
