The 2023 Mental Health America report found that there is one mental health provider for every 350 people. Roughly 21% of Americans (over 50 million) experience mental illness with around 55% of them (over 28 million) receiving no treatment. While Maryland does have a lower prevalence of reported mental illness, we currently rank 25th out of 50 on the access to care rankings with around 822,000 Maryland adults and 69,000 Maryland youth reporting experiencing some kind of mental illness. That's only information from those who did report meaning that there is the potential for these numbers to be higher.
Free Baltimore is a behavioral health clinic dedicated to providing access and quality informed care to members of the Maryland community, especially LGBTQIA+ and marginalized people.
