I have started to write a book about "The Sandwich Generation" It refers to adults who are simultaneously caring for their aging parents and supporting their own children. When I was only 30, as an immigrant (I immigrated with my family of 7 – my grandparents, my disabled uncle, mom, step farther and older brother, from Ukraine in 1992, I became the Jello and the peanut butter in the sandwich, because I had to take care of my grandparents, uncle, parents and a young daughter. As the only medical (I became a nurse) professional with fluent English, I took care of everyone’s health issues. This dual, or even triple responsibility often leads to a unique set of emotional and logistical challenges that can feel overwhelming. Balancing the needs of multiple generations requires resilience, adaptability, and a solid support system. This guide aims to offer hope and provide practical strategies to help you find balance and fulfillment in your journey.
