It’s Therapist Thursday!!

Meet Jade Nesbitt, LCSW-C.

Jade Marie Nesbitt, LCSW-C, is a licensed clinical social worker with a Master’s in Social Work from Morgan State University. As a 2018–2019 Annie E. Casey Foundation–Morgan State Urban Social Work Scholar, she has a strong foundation in community-based therapeutic interventions, with prior research exploring the impact of alternative therapies and the barriers to medication adherence among adults aged 45+ living with HIV.

Ms. Nesbitt provides therapy to adult women and transitional-age youth, offering a therapeutic space that is affirming, collaborative, and grounded in cultural humility. Her clinical approach is rooted in Afrocentric perspectives and integrates evidence-based modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to support clients navigating anxiety, depression, identity development, and life transitions.

In addition to her clinical work, Ms. Nesbitt is passionate about disability justice and advancing equitable access in higher education for individuals of all abilities. She also brings a global lens to her practice through her involvement with STEAM Abroad Inc., having engaged in international service and education in Guatemala, El Salvador, South America, and Spain—experiences that enhance her culturally responsive care.

Outside of her clinical role, Ms. Nesbitt finds restoration in nature, enjoys transforming spaces, experimenting with new cuisines, and spending quality time with her dog.

If you would like to contact Rachel, please visit www.mentalhealthemergencyfund.org/therapy-directory, where you will find more information about her and the services she provides!

P.S. If you’re a therapist who serves clients in the Greater Baltimore area and want to be featured, email us through the button in our bio.

Read from one of our volunteers about why she decided to donate to last year.

“Volunteering with the Mental Health Emergency Fund has been one of the most meaningful experiences of my life. This nonprofit plays a vital role in the Baltimore community by helping individuals access therapy sessions they otherwise couldn’t afford due to financial hardship.

Through my time here, I’ve witnessed firsthand just how many people are struggling silently with mental health challenges, and how even a single therapy session can make a difference in someone’s journey toward healing.

The work this organization is doing isn’t just helpful—it’s life-changing. That’s why I made a personal donation last year. I wholeheartedly believe in its mission and feel proud to support a cause that truly uplifts and empowers people when they need it most. I believe in the work being done here and encourage others to support it. Every donation helps someone take a step towards healing.” - Rashawnda Mims

Help us reach our goal of $25,000 by donating at the link in our bio on August 8th!

July is Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Month. Celebrate with us by equipping yourself with the tools to help youth in crisis.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis.

Youth Mental Health First Aid is primarily designed for adults who regularly interact with young people. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations.

Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including AD/HD), and eating disorders.

Thanks to a grant from The Black Arts District, this event is FREE OF CHARGE!

Even if you can’t attend, please share this amazing opportunity with your networks.

Register today at the link in ’s bio or by visiting www.mentalhealthemergencyfund.org
