🎆 Happy 4th of July week! 🇺🇸 As we celebrate our nation’s independence, let’s also commit to celebrating safely. Did you know that each year, thousands of people are injured around the 4th of July? Here are some essential tips to ensure a fun and injury-free holiday:
⭐️Fireworks Safety: Fireworks cause over 9,000 injuries annually, with 36% of those being burns. Leave the fireworks to the professionals. If you must use them, follow all safety instructions and keep a bucket of water nearby.
⭐️Grill with Caution: Grilling accidents account for nearly 20% of burns reported during the holiday. Keep grills away from structures and never leave them unattended. Make sure to clean your grill to avoid flare-ups.
⭐️Water Safety: Drowning is the second leading cause of unintentional injury deaths among children aged 1-14. Always supervise children around water and ensure everyone knows how to swim. Wear life jackets when boating.
⭐️Sun & Heat Protection: Each year, heat-related illnesses lead to more than 600 deaths in the U.S. Stay hydrated, wear sunscreen, and take breaks in the shade. Avoid strenuous activities during peak heat hours, and be aware of signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
⭐️Drive Safely: The 4th of July is one of the deadliest holidays for drunk driving accidents. If you’re traveling, don’t drink and drive. Designate a sober driver or use a ride-sharing service.
Your safety is our priority! Let’s make this 4th of July memorable for all the right reasons. Stay safe, everyone! ❤️🤍💙
