πŸ”Š CALL FOR COMMENTS πŸ”Š

Power Elevating Seat Height (PASH) is a feature that can be added to power wheelchairs to allow users access to upper cabinets, bar tops 🍻, and to be able to be eye level with others.

It is currently not considered "medically necessary" and thus not covered by CMS.

There is obviously a huge improvement in functional ability and quality of life for people who use this feature! Unfortunately it is expensive, so very few can actually get it.

A few organizations, like and recently offer grants for coverage, but most power wheelchairs users have to go without.

If you think it's BS that accessing your full home, being eye level with peers and your environment, and being able to socialize are considered "not medically necessary," please take a moment to go to

and submit a comment.

Jenn Millar (an amazing PT who works in the Johns Hopkins Medicine Ataxia Clinic) and I sat down with Peter and Deborah of the Noggins & Neurons podcast to discuss rehab after cerebellar stroke. Stephen Heim joined us - he's a critical care nurse who brings the unique perspective of a healthcare provider who had a cerebellar stroke. He gives wonderful insights!
