Pediatric pulmonologist Dr. Christy Sadreameli recently donated over 70 bags of medical necessities for Baltimore City students with asthma. The bags included an albuterol inhaler, reusable spacers, and educational materials for public schools. The bags will cover over 40 health suites in different public schools.

A new law in Maryland requires public schools (and allows private schools) to have emergency albuterol on hand for respiratory emergencies. This donation ensures that the schools will be able to properly administer the emergency medication to students with asthma.

There are over 16 million people currently living with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). We strive to increase education for those living with COPD, as well as their family, friends, and caregivers.

Did you know that if you have COPD, an air purifier may help reduce the frequency of your symptoms, according to our BREATHE Center research findings?

Find more information and resources at https://www.lung.org/lung-health-diseases/lung-disease-lookup/copd/learn-about-copd

is a global campaign from the World Health Organization (WHO) to raise awareness about antimicrobial resistance (AMR). This occurs when fungi, parasites, bacteria, and viruses become resistant to the drugs used to treat them. These treatments and drugs therefore become ineffective, leading to risk of infection spread, serious illnesses and even death.

Pneumonia is an infection of one or both lungs that can be caused by bacteria, viruses, or fungi. Anyone can get pneumonia, however adults aged 65+ and children under 2 are at the highest risk.

Most people with pneumonia respond well to treatment attempts, but pneumonia can still cause serious and even deadly lung infections and problems. Pneumovax, RSV, influenza, and COVID vaccines can help reduce the risk of pneumonia.
