At the front desk of Woodholme Gardens in Maryland, Angela Dorsey Harrington is often the first face families see – and the steady presence they come to count on.
She arrived at the community 15 years ago to apply for a dietary manager position, but it had already been filled. Instead, she was offered a role in nursing care – and was later asked to assist at the front desk. “I’m a people person, so my journey began.”
Angela eventually transitioned to concierge, where she’s spent the past eight years building strong relationships with residents and families. Her consistency, warmth, and dedication have made her an anchor of the team. “I’m here for the residents. That’s what matters most.”
As the oldest of six children, she’s always had a nurturing spirit – and a strong sense of responsibility. Outside of work, Angela enjoys line dancing, traveling with her husband, spending time with her children and grandchildren, and cheering for the Baltimore Ravens.
Her advice to those new to senior living? “You have to treat every resident like your own family and stay disciplined and focused on their well-being at all times.”
Most Fridays, you’ll find Angela dancing and singing with residents at the community’s happy hour. “I don’t do any of this for show,” she says, “but it really means something to feel appreciated. It brings a smile to my face.”
