Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to recognize and celebrate the rich histories, cultures and contributions of people whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Observed from September 15 to October 15, the month begins on the anniversary of independence for several Latin American countries, including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, with Mexico and Chile celebrating shortly after.
Since its establishment, Hispanic Heritage Month has grown into a vibrant celebration of identity, resilience and community. It is a space to honor heritage while uplifting the voices, values and lived experiences of Hispanic/Latino individuals across the United States.
This year encourages reflection on the strength and unity found within Hispanic and Latino communities and invites us to honor the legacy of Hispanic/Latino organ donors, recipients, healthcare professionals and community leaders who continue to shape a more inclusive and lifesaving system.
