Feeling artsy 🎨πŸͺ΄

Earlier this summer, a few of our practices took part in a planter painting night. Our Columbia North, Frederick and Greater Dundalk teams enjoyed painting pots and planting succulents.

Now in its third year, the Arts at Johns Hopkins Community Physicians program, founded by physician Alice Lee, gives our staff and providers monthly opportunities for creativity and camaraderie.

Protecting Your Eyes' Health 😎

Sunny days might prompt us to layer on sunscreen, wear a hat or consider covering up to avoid sunburn. With those precautions, sunglasses might seem like a secondary concern, helpful if you need clear vision on a bright day for driving or sports, but not essential.

However, sunglasses provide important protection from ultraviolet (UV) sunlight in the same way that sunscreen or covering up helps protect our skin.

πŸ”— Read more from Johns Hopkins Medicine experts about the danger of too much sun for your eyes, how sunglasses can help and more:

Our eyes are as sensitive our skin is to the sun, but we often treat sunglasses as optional. Dr. Bryce St. Clair explains how sunglasses matter for your eye health, what to look for when looking for sunglasses, and when to wear sunglasses to protect your eyes.

Sun safety β˜€οΈπŸ•ΆοΈ

Everybody needs some sun exposure to produce vitamin D (which helps calcium absorption for stronger and healthier bones). But unprotected exposure to the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause damage to the skin, eyes, and immune system.

See this article from Johns Hopkins Medicine to learn about tanning, ultraviolet radiation, protective measures and more.
