🎃🍂 Let’s Talk Pumpkins! – Language Fun Saturdays in October 🍂🎃

Looking for a fun way to build language skills this fall? Join us for pumpkin-themed language groups every Saturday in October! Each week, we’ll explore pumpkins in new and exciting ways through talking, playing, and creating.

📍 Location: 1205 York Road
⏰ When: Saturdays – Oct 4, 11, 18, 25 | 1 hour each

✨ Pumpkin Adventures:
🟠 Oct 4 – Pumpkin Talk & Parts (describing, comparing, exploring pumpkin parts)
🟠 Oct 11 – Pumpkin Sensory Exploration (cutting into a pumpkin—touch, feel, smell, taste)
🟠 Oct 18 – Pick & Decorate Your Pumpkin (creativity + language fun!)
🟠 Oct 25 – Pumpkin Party (stories, games, and pumpkin play!)

🦁 Lion Donuts for the Win! 🍩

This week’s theme was jungle and today we wrapped it up with a sweet and silly last minute craft — Lion Donuts!

I gave this little one 5 minutes and full creative freedom to turn a donut into a lion using whatever materials I could find… and he crushed it! 🙌 The best part? It sparked tons of conversation, fine motor practice, and imaginative thinking.

Play-based learning that’s fun and functional — that’s what we’re all about at KTC Speech Therapy 💛

The thing sticking from its head?? That's its tail. And yes, the lion has a mustache.

🌴🐵 Welcome to the Jungle! 🐍🍌

Today at KTC Speech Therapy, we swung into some wild speech and language fun! Using our jungle-themed game, we worked on:

🗣️ Requesting (“I want the monkey!”)
👀 Turn-taking and waiting
🎯 Following directions ("Put the banana on the tree!")
🦎 Articulation practice with L sounds ("little lizard") and SW blends ("swing, sway")
🐵 Vocabulary building with animals, colors, and action words

Play-based therapy keeps our sessions engaging and effective — because learning through fun is how we roll (or swing)! 🐒💬🌴

🍦Scoopin’ Up Speech Sounds!🍦

Today at KTC Speech Therapy, we had a sweet time working on all things ice cream! Our little speech stars:

🍨 Dabbed colorful scoops on cones while practicing S-blends and L-blends
🍦 worked on turn taking with the Melissa & Doug Ice Cream Shop, building social skills like turn-taking, asking questions, and role-playing
🎨 Got crafty by decorating ice cream cone drawings—one creative kid even added real glue for that extra “melty” effect! 😂

The best kind of therapy is the kind that feels like play 💬❤️

Yum!! My most favorite theme of all 🍦

We used a sensory bin + Melissa & Doug ice cream set to serve up language fun!

🎯 Targets include:
✨ Functional vocabulary ("scoop," "cone," "sprinkles")
👂🏼 Following directions ("Give me the blue scoop and put it on the cone")
🧭 Prepositions ("under," "next to," "on top")

It’s hands-on, imaginative, and the coolest way to build communication skills this summer! ☀️🍨

Monday Motivation

Does your child struggle with answering WH questions like who, what, or where?
Try this simple strategy during storytime or play:

🗣 Pause & Prompt – After reading a sentence, ask:
➡️ "Who is in the story?"
➡️ "What is happening?"
➡️ "Where are they?"

🎯 Don’t rush to correct—give them time to think! Use pictures in books or toys to point to clues if needed.

✅ Keep it fun: Use favorite characters, animals, or real-life situations like grocery shopping to practice.

🎣🐟 Under the Sea Creativity!
Our little artists had a blast making their very own fish bowls today! With scissors, glue, and lots of imagination, these underwater masterpieces came to life. 🌊✨
