Emotional wellness is more than “feeling good.” It’s the ability to recognize, understand, and manage one’s emotions in healthy, adaptive ways. 

When we’re emotionally well, we can:
*identify what we’re feeling, without judgment,
*communicate our needs effectively,
*build supportive, balanced relationships, and
*cope with stress using grounding and self-care strategies

Remember: emotional wellness doesn’t mean avoiding difficult emotions; it’s learning to navigate them with awareness and compassion.

Take a moment today to check in with yourself:
•What emotion has been showing up most for me lately?
•How am I tending to that part of myself?

Black Girl Day Off or Black Girl Mental Health Day is dedicated to spreading awareness about the mental health issues that black women face.

We, as Black women, are often the pillars of our families and communities, and as a result, we often have a higher prevalence of medical and mental health issues.

Today, I encourage my sisters to take time away from work, maternal responsibilities, and societal pressures, and instead, focus on pouring just as much, if not more, into ourselves as we pour into others!

While we may hear about anxiety and depression most often, there are over 200 mental health diagnoses in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM).

Conditions including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), schizophrenia, Autism Spectrum Disorder, eating disorders, and so many more impact the lives of individuals like you and me everyday!

This we acknowledge the prevalence of mental illness, work to reduce the stigma, and provide unconditional support to those along their own recovery journeys. Know that you aren’t alone, and that healing works best when it’s done TOGETHER! 🫂

Anxiety Disorders🧘🏾‍♀️🌱🧠✨

Everyone experiences anxious feelings, whether it’s preparing for an interview, taking an exam, or even riding a roller coaster.

Anxiety, or feelings of worry, nervousness, or unease, is a natural response to events that hold uncertainty.

It’s when our anxious thoughts and feelings become uncontrollable and interfere with our ability to function that it becomes a mental health concern.

Anxiety is the most common mental health diagnosis in the US, and there are a vast number of treatment options, especially holistic ones such as deep breathing, mindfulness, grounding, and exposure therapy.

Know that you are not alone!

So get out of your head, and into the present moment, and remember to always 💖
