I realized that i never got around to reviewing this book, and wanted to take a few minutes to give it some attention.

Haunting the Hunter had really good bones. The concept was there. It broke the fourth wall, as was promised. The story had magic, ghosts, and demons.

Most importantly, the reader was supposed to be the MMC’s love interest. And I was… in a really almost abstract way.

🛑 Warning: Spoilers Ahead (Scroll for final thoughts and book rating) 🛑

The characters in the book, specifically our male lead Cade Halloway, aren’t really capable of interacting with you in any real way.

Cade can sense you, feel when you touch him, but can’t touch you back. He can talk to you but you can’t respond.

Really all you can “do” is put your mouth on him (yeah, I know), and provide emotional comfort.

Gotta admit that my expectations were probably higher than they should have been have been. There’s only so much you can do when breaking the fourth wall to interact with the reader.

It doesn’t mean I wasn’t a little disappointed.

As for our other leading men, resident demon Alabaster feels like one of the more complex characters in the book. He was funny, could also interact with the reader, and loves cats.

Whats not to be obsessed with?

✅ Back to Safety: No More Spoilers ✅

Overall, the book was ok. Would I recommend it? Maybe to someone looking for something a little goofy but also dark.

Will I read the second book? Yeah, probably. But it certainly won’t be a priority read for me.

As a Baltimorean, I could feel the city’s influence on this book.

Passionate, goofy, serious, and just generally a lot of fun, First-Time Caller by B.K. Borison is one of the sweetest romances I’ve read (though I also can’t say I’ve read very many).

I found the characters to be charming and complex. The imagry really feels like the home I’ve come to know. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a easy, sweet read.

As we close the back cover of 2025, I wanted to pause in the quiet in-between moment that is New Years Day and reflect. So I took a little time to look back over my 2025 reads, finding it akin to revisiting well-loved rooms in a childhood home.

This year, I devoured 23 books, three more than the goal I set for myself, adding up to an impressive 11,584 pages spent wandering other worlds.

My shortest read was Hallowpeen, a delightfully ridiculous 113 pages, while the longest was Alchemised, a soul-crushing 1,030-page journey that earned its weight in heartbreak.

If I had to choose just three standouts from the year, I’d say the stories that lingered with me the longest were:

📖 The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig

📖 Lights Out by Navessa Allen

📖 Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver

As I step into 2026, I’m feeling grateful and excited. I can’t wait to set new goals, chase new milestones, and crack open the covers of unfamiliar worlds waiting just ahead.

Here’s to more late nights, dog-eared pages, and stories that feel like home.

My last book of 2025!!! (And just in time too 😅)

It took me a while, but I finally finished Alchemised🥳

This book had a delicious Romeo and Juliet type slow burn romance, filled with obsession and yearning that any book girl craves.

I really enjoyed this book for its world building and political intrigue. It’s a great depiction of how a government can topple itself through systemic oppression and greed.

It’s gonna be a very ambitious December for my TBR 😅

📖Alchemised by Sen Lin Yu

📖Sentient Claus by Holly Wilde

📖He Knows When You’re Awake by Alta Hensley

📖The Primal of Blood and Bone by Jennifer L. Armentrout

I am so close to finishing Alchemised, and I look forward to crushing that by the end of the week.

Sentient Claus and He Knows When You’re Dead Awake are… palette cleansers and podcast fuel 🙃 The Primal of Blood and Bone… well, a future reel will explain that 🧄

As you already know, up next on the reading list is Alchemised by .

I’m excited about this one, but a little nervous about the length. It’s one of the longest books I’ll have read, so it’ll be an adventure for sure.

What’s next on your list?

“‘Please let me find my way back to you, Arcady.’” -Emberclaw by L. R. Lam

Emotional and raw, Emberclaw follows Arcady as they navigate school and seek to clear their family’s name. At the same time, Arcady found themselves working to rebuild trust with Everen, the dragon whom Arcady banished back across the veil.

As the two rebuild their connection, they find themselves fight to save not just each other but also both of their worlds.

This book jumps right into the action, full of huge twists and turns along the way. It was a much easier read than Dragonfall, as less world building is needed to understand whats happening (the summary of Dragonfall at the beginning of Emberclaw helps too).
