It’s Hair Stylist Appreciation Day, and I just want to take a moment to celebrate the beauty of community in our industry.

There’s something deeply humbling about having another hairstylist trust you with their hair. Veronica, a talented artist in her own right, custom-colored her peekaboo extensions and had them installed by another incredible stylist, Morgan. When she came to me for a styling session, it became clear—this look wasn’t mine alone. It was a collaboration built on trust, talent, and shared love for the craft.

We even tested out a new gray coverage compact, and it delivered the perfect finishing touch. It’s a game-changer for those busy seasons when color maintenance has to wait.

To my fellow stylists: let’s keep shouting each other out, celebrating the hands behind the hair, and acknowledging the teamwork that makes these transformations possible. There’s room for all of us to shine—and when we lift each other up, our clients feel that energy too.

surface texture fool you—there’s more to hair than what meets the eye!

At Savvy Color Salon, when we say “All Textures Welcomed,” we mean it. ✨
The clients in this post may look like they have similar hair textures, but in reality, each one has completely different hair characteristics—from curl pattern and density to porosity and strand diameter.

The way hair is styled can create a visual illusion, but as professionals, we know that what’s underneath matters just as much as what you see on the surface. That’s why we take a customized approach to every color transformation, ensuring results that work with your unique hair structure, not against it.
Recently, a stylist told me she didn’t know how to do my texture of hair. And I thought—what an odd thing to say as a licensed professional. At that moment, my hair was sleek and straight, so she had no idea what my true texture looked like, yet she had already decided she couldn’t do it.
What she was really saying was, “I don’t know how to do Black hair.”
The educator in me kicked in, so I showed her an image of my natural hair and gave her two tips on how to achieve the results she saw on the surface. In home sight I should’ve asked, “What made you share that with me?” Looking back, I wish I had said, “That’s unfortunate for your business that you haven’t made it a priority to learn.”
