That’s why stigma and assumptions get in the way of real support. Understanding the scope helps us respond with empathy instead of judgment. Awareness changes how we
respond. How we respond shapes our communities’ future.

CIAA Tournament is in town! The energy is high and the games are thrilling — and for many, that excitement comes with thoughts of sports betting.

While placing a wager can feel fun, it is still gambling, and it can affect your finances, relationships, and mental health if it gets out of control.

🎯 Keep these tips in mind:
• Treat betting as entertainment — not a way to earn money.
• Set limits on time and money before you bet.
• Know when to pause — if it’s no longer fun, take a break.
• If gambling ever stops being enjoyable or feels like it’s taking over, help is available.

If you or someone you know needs help, the Maryland Problem Gambling Helpline (1-800-GAMBLER) is available 24/7 for free and confidential support.
