My last two cohorts for Reiki 1 were solos, and I do not believe that was by chance…

Initially, I was only offering Reiki 1 in a group setting ( as I was trained) but after the last two initiations I have realized….. there is just something sooo sacred about starting this journey of learning, healing, and expanding your energetic awareness in a space that was co- created with spirit, uniquely for you ✨

Yesterday I gave my 6-year-old daughter a traditional spiritual bath. 🌿🛁 and today she came to me and said, “Mommy, I felt strong today…” and she also told me she stood up for herself and her friend to a little boy who likes to tease them because they are girls 🙄😂

Children may not always have the language to communicate the difference they feel after taking part in ritual, but I believe that they absolutely can feel the shifts.

Spiritual bathing is one of the ways I teach my daughter spiritual hygiene — where she learns how to cleanse what she picks up from the world, how to strengthen her spirit, and stay connected to her inner voice.

When our children’s soul feels spiritually supported, it can show up as:

✨ confidence
✨ courage to speak up
✨ emotional balance
✨ inner awareness
✨ spiritual protection

Hearing her say she felt strong reminded me why it’s so important to pour into our children spiritually as well as physically. These small ancestral practices can plant powerful seeds of self-trust and resilience and I am truly honored to be raising a child who knows her spirit is strong and powerful 💪🏽✨

Last month I had the honor of holding sacred space for a dear friend as we returned her placenta to the earth after the birth of her beautiful baby boy 🧑🏾‍🍼

In many African and Indigenous traditions, the placenta is not seen as medical waste. It is recognized as the baby’s first companion, first nourishment, and spiritual guardian during pregnancy. After birth, families often bury the placenta to return that life-giving organ to the earth, anchoring the child to land, ancestry, and protection.

During the ceremony we prayed, spoke blessings over the child’s life, and buried the placenta in the soil as an act of gratitude. The burial symbolizes grounding, longevity, and the child always having a spiritual home to return to.

For many Black families reclaiming these traditions is powerful. Historically, our birth practices were taken from us and medical systems taught us that the placenta was disposable. But culturally, spiritually, and even biologically it is sacred.

One of the dangers many Black women don’t realize is that once the placenta is handed over to the hospital, it becomes medical property and may be used for research, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, or discarded without the family’s consent or ceremony. Reclaiming it is a way of restoring autonomy over our bodies, births, and sacred traditions.

Birth is not just medical.
It is ancestral.
It is spiritual.
It is ceremonial.

And I was one hundred percent honored to facilitate and witness this return to the earth and welcome this little treasure into the world surrounded by intention and love.

I am soo grateful to be chosen to do this work.

This weekend I had The honor of facilitating a private Usui Shiki Rhoyo Shoden Initiation for a local Iyanifa, and this is a clip from our signature hand and foot washing ceremony before the first attunement.

What I love so much about Reiki is that it is spiritual healing practice. So not only are you gaining knowledge wisdom and technique during your training, you are also having your own tangible personal healing experience.

She reported the pain in her hand from her carpal túnnel was gone after her hand washing was complete 🙏🏾✨

Today we released from the crown chakra letting go of what’s been clouding our connection to Spirit, our faith, and our inner knowing.✨

This wasn’t just “another day” of healing.
This was surrender.
This was trust.
This was allowing the Divine to hold what we no longer need to carry.✨

And now… we’re stepping into our FINAL day. Day 21 is our closing ritual + ceremony 🥺

Tomorrow 1/23/26 at 11:11 PM is a sacred moment to seal this journey, honor the transformation, and consciously anchor everything we’ve healed, released, and reclaimed through all 7 energy centers.✨
