GSSHealth team members are attending this week. The event presents a valuable opportunity to deepen our understanding of new developments in the military health and research field while also contributing insights from our work in global health engagement.

This afternoon’s breakout sessions offered thoughtful dialogue on strategies to strengthen health systems for military and civilian populations alike. We’re especially grateful for the chance to reconnect with partners and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

Don't miss our poster on portable infectious disease diagnostic technologies to support force health protection in West Africa. If you are attending the conference, please let us know and come visit us Wednesday from 1000 to 1200, Aisle 3100, poster #3124.

At GSSHealth, we are incredibly proud of our contributions to clinical research and excited to share a newly published article stemming from an earlier study on which we worked. We extend our sincere gratitude to partners at WRAIR, AFRIMS, USAMRU-K, and NAMRU-6 for their leadership, collaboration and trust throughout this effort.

This study marked the first concurrent evaluation of artemisinin resistance across three continents, a significant milestone in the global fight against malaria. While the research was conducted some time ago, its findings and methodological framework remain highly relevant and instructive today.

Importantly, the study stands as a compelling blueprint for Military-to-Military partnerships in clinical research, demonstrating how coordinated collaboration, scientific rigor, and shared public health goals can yield effective and lasting outcomes.

The Pacific Islands face unique public health challenges, including geographic isolation, limited laboratory infrastructure, and vulnerability to emerging infectious diseases. Robust disease surveillance systems and Laboratory Information Management & Data Exchange (LIMS/LDX) networks are critical for early outbreak detection and response.

Why it matters:
✅ Timely detection of emerging pathogens
✅ Rapid response to prevent widespread outbreaks
✅ Data sharing across islands and with regional/global networks
✅ Strengthened lab capacity for accurate diagnostics
✅ Better preparedness for future pandemics

Investing in interoperable and efficient lab data systems across the region is not just about improving diagnostics—it’s about protecting lives, economies, and public health security.
