Sometimes integrative health is about treating yourself. Deprivation does not translate into health and wellness but declining to participate in suffering by living a cruelty free life does. Breakfast doesn’t have to be dessert. In fact, it’s a great place to start getting your veggies! Warmed traditional pita (no pocket) with hummus, carrots, cukes and micrograins is my current favorite. Travels well too…fold and go!

Organic isn’t just for consumer health. It’s also about protecting our pollinators. 🐝 🐝 🐝 but if you need to prioritize how and where you spend your produce dollars here are some handy reference lists. And while we are in the subject….consider whether you really want to spend money spraying your lawn…ever…at all….is it worth the expense? All that poison runs off into our water ways, kills plants that feed pollinators, and gets stuck on puppy paws (among many other paws). Love yourself by also loving what surrounds you and nourishes you.

If you can't share your home with animals, you can get your fix by volunteering at a local animal shelter or sanctuary. There are dogs in need of walks and socialization at shelters in your town and sanctuaries in need of assistance with day today operations that keep their animals safe. Opportunities to share our lives with animals are endless and rewarding for us and them.

So many people upset about the price of eggs. Now is a great time to discover all of the amazing plant-based alternatives!

Here are a few to get you started....

For baking: mix 1 tbsp ground flax seeds or 1 tbsp chia seeds with 3 tbsp water and set aside for a few minutes to thicken.

For a scramble or an egg salad: The secret ingredients are extra firm tofu (for texture) and black salt (for the eggy taste).
