Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity

Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity The Center for Health Equity has been established to promote equity in health for at-risk population

The Hopkins Center for Health Equity is established as a partnership of the Johns Hopkins Schools of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health. Our research Center uses comparative effectiveness, health care delivery science, and community based participatory research including partnerships with health care provider networks, insurers, community members, and grocery stores, public libraries, and public health departments to address specific research questions. Community input has been vital to our success, with faculty and staff asking the community for feedback on research methods and support of our training activities. In turn, we attend community forums where we disseminate our results to diverse audiences, educate the public about health and healthcare research and connect individuals with local health-related resources. We also provide technical support to community-based groups seeking funding and resources for their services.

Access to vision care is essential to childrenโ€™s health and future opportunities, yet disparities persist across the U.S.

The Robert H. Levi Symposium, hosted by the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics, will bring experts together to examine these inequities through an ethics framework and issue a national call to action for advancing equitable pediatric eye health.

Weโ€™re proud to share a new publication from the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Equity and the Mid-Atlantic Center for Cardiometabolic Health Equity (MACCHE): โ€œAcademic Hegemony and Monitoring of Shared Power in Community-Engaged Research Trialsโ€ (2023โ€“2024).

This important work explores how academic institutions can more effectively share power with community partners in research, moving beyond tokenism toward true collaboration.

Dr. Chidinma A. Ibe recently presented this work during our Community Advisory Board (CAB) meeting, sparking meaningful dialogue about equity, accountability, and shared leadership in research. ๐Ÿ’ก
