Hi. I’m Irene (she/her). I’m a somatic coach with a Master of Science, bestselling author, and graduate student in clinical psychology. I also have a background in s*xual health counseling, and combine that with my work in somatics to help folks find their right fit intimacy, whether that means pleasure, relationships, or s*xual expression. Currently, I am in school to become a therapist, and ultimately want to pursue s*x therapy.

Through individual and partnered coaching, workshops, events, and The Polyamory Paradox, I support people in navigating their “right fit” relationships, both with themselves and with others. Much of my work has focused on non-monogamy in different forms, but I also work with folks who are looking to feel more empowered in their own sense of pleasure, and folks who want support in a monogamous dynamic.

🌱 Many of my clients use coaching to supplement work they’re doing in talk therapy, and to have a space where they feel free to dive deep in discussions of s*x and intimacy.

🪞 The majority of the people I work with identify as q***r in some way, but some of my most impactful, longstanding coaching relationships are with cis-het men.

🫱🏼‍🫲🏽I also run in-person non-monogamy speed friending events and facilitate a s*x-positive community, so if you’re in LA, come say hi!

🌀 I trust the innate wisdom of your body, and see my role as that of a collaborator in listening to and embodying that wisdom.

💭 I believe that medically accurate, pleasure-forward s*x education is vital to the well-being of individuals, families, and society.

🌊 I’m not here to sell you quick fixes. Yes, this work will give you “ah-ha moments,” and most of the deep change we want requires patience, integration, and ongoing support.

These days, I am trying to live life more offline (i.e. not on social media). You can find more about my work and book sessions at irenemorning.com or send me an email at irene@irenemorning.com.

As a birthday gift to myself this year, I’m focusing my energy on my school and my clients and pausing on posting here. You can book sessions through my website and check the 🔗 in bio for updated offerings.

As I continue working on my second master’s degree (this time to become a licensed therapist) I’m excited to reflect more deeply on where somatics, social justice, and relational therapeutics intersect. I don’t yet know exactly how I’ll be sharing what I learn, but I do know this: *email is where I’ll be staying connected.*

If you want to be along for this journey—especially if you could use some support in your non-monogamous life—join the 💌 list!

When I find my balance with my new schedule, I’ll be sharing insights, resources, events, and the things I would’ve posted here.

This excerpt from The Polyamory Paradox highlights regulation: when you feel yourself moving toward 🌀dysregulation 🌀 begin with the basics and then move into the right feeling somatic suggestions for you to compassionately return to your window of tolerance. Grounding, evidence-backed exercises are shared throughout the book to support you in stabilizing the spirals and you’ll find guidance on how to apply these tools to the communication, conflict, and collaboration in your relationship(s).

If you’re looking for some good old fashioned reading and nonmonogamy support, consider these reviews your nudge to open up The Polyamory Paradox. *These* words for *my* words do a lot for my soul, and remind me of the wild and worthwhile endeavor of pouring my lived experience and somatic knowledge into this book to be able to share with all of you.

If you’ve already read it and have thoughts to share? I’d love to hear from you, and so would the internet 😘

In 2022, I wrote The Polyamory Paradox, combining the science behind trauma healing and human intimacy with my personal story, client stories, and doable exercises to help you get in touch with and work through what’s feeling sticky in your polyamory practice. This is a resource to help you learn the language of your body, reclaim the power of your pleasure, and build your confidence in consensual non-monogamy.

No matter how badly you think you want non-monogamy, your body might have something else to say. The surprising intensity of your triggers can leave you with bigger questions rather than answers or solutions. You’re interested in opening up, but taking steps in that direction seems to be causing major turmoil. While it may not be easy, it is possible to alchemize polyamorous pain points into secure intimacy, boundless pleasure, and deeper healing.

This is what happened for me, as I found healing for my own complex-PTSD through the practice of non-monogamy, and this book is an intimate share filled with body-based tools and holistic pleasure framework that introduces you to a new and empowering way of thinking about your relationships and communication.

For years now I have been struggling with my relationship to social media, feeling mostly like it’s a necessary tool for running an online business, not at all a place for my authentic expression. The past few months I’ve gotten a lot of help, and I have leaned on AI to help create more faster, but damn, dude, I’m not sounding like myself on here and I think you can tell. Probably at least in part because those of us using chatgpt for coaching promotion are only able to get so much variance in the tone it produces…

I’ve lost count of the times people have tried to support me in finding my authentic approach to marketing here, encouraging me to “be myself”…just on this platform. The truth is that being myself means not thinking about framing my experiences for public consumption. I’m happiest when I’m not oriented to this app, and I notice a very marked impact on how I think when I need to spend more time here for work; my creativity declines, my critical thinking requires more effort, and I am WAY more inundated with thoughts about botox and beauty products (when truly, I’m so grateful for the aging process). I just don’t want to think the way these apps want me to think.

That’s on a personal level. On a more societal level, it’s become increasingly hard to stomach the censorship and silencing of BIPOC voices and s*xuality professionals on the app, not to mention meta’s detrimental influence on global democracy.

Getting back to school and being in more real time, in person discussions has really highlighted all of this for me.

Now, please hear me when I say I appreciate all the benefits social media has brought to my life. I’ve made some incredible connections, I’ve built some beautiful relationships, and I’ve been able to establish a body of work I care so deeply about because you all engage with it. I am so happy for those of you who genuinely love creating here, and feel a sense of community. But for me, it’s time to experiment with a different way of doing things…[cont. in post / 🔗 in bio to stay connected through my email 💌 list]

📖 Free Workbook: Polyamory with Pleasure ❤️‍🔥

If non-monogamy has ever felt harder than it should be, join the club.

Maybe you’re spiraling after endless tough conversations...

Or felt like no matter how much you *know* about non-monogamy, your body still feels on high alert...all. the. time.

Are you spending so much time troubleshooting that you don’t have anything left to actually enjoy your relationships?

Sound familiar?

When your nervous system is perpetually activated — whether you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, or stuck in conflict — your brain automatically shifts into protection mode 🧠

Unfortunately, problem-solving from protection rarely works the way we want it to. In fact, it often makes things worse.

So while it may sound trite, or counterintuitive...

Pleasure isn’t a luxury if you want relationships that work — it’s a powerful way to reset your nervous system and shift out of survival mode. When you feel good in your body, you’re better able to connect with your partner(s), think clearly, and communicate with compassion.

My free workbook, Polyamory with Pleasure, introduces a holistic pleasure framework that helps you use pleasure as your starting point, not your afterthought.

It also includes a simple tool called P-Cubed, designed to:

➡️ Interrupt moments of tension or overwhelm

➡️ Help you reconnect to pleasure *before* trying to problem-solve

➡️ Remind you that your relationships can feel good, even when things get messy

Pleasure doesn’t mean ignoring hard feelings — it means creating the conditions that help you handle them better.

💫 Get started centering pleasure in non-monogamy by downloading my free guide—rooted in compassion and designed around practical, evidence-based somatic methods. 🔗 in b i o to get yours.

My goal is simple: to help you better understand your body as a guide, and to build the relationships that work for you, whether you’re new to non-monogamy or looking for new tools as a seasoned veteran. Intimacy is not some one-size-fits-all idea of how things should be, but always about cultivating *your* right fit.

I’ve been teaming up with to offer monthly Non-Monogamy Speed Friending evening in Los Angeles and wow is it lovely to see this thing grow 🥹 next one is Monday, April 14th from 7-10PM!

💛 One of the hardest things about non-monogamy can be the sense of isolation in a dominant culture that doesn’t get it. It can be an uphill battle to find spaces where you don’t have to explain yourself, and near impossible to find spaces where everyone else in the room shares your experience.

💛 This is a chance to meet some terrific non-monogamous humans in LA—laugh, connect, and build community.

💛We use prompts from and as conversation starters to connect in small groups, so there’s always plenty to discuss!

💛All genders, gender expressions, s*xualities, and ENM styles are encourage to join. We welcome LGBTQ+, trans or non-binary, q***r, BIPOC, kinky, polyamorous folks of all kinds.

💛 The event is $25 and offers discounted pricing to Plura+ members.

Head to l i n k to grab your spot. Can’t wait to see you there.

Each emotion we experience has a physiological impulse—it’s not just in your head, it’s in your body, too. Emotions are like little messengers, showing up with physical signals that shape our entire experience. When we ignore those signals (or try too hard to control them), things get...messy.

Most of us have been taught to contain those big emotions, like we’re cramming a suitcase before a trip—jam it in, sit on it, zip it up, and hope it doesn’t explode at baggage claim. How do I put this delicately? That bag will explode.

A huge part of the work of emotional regulation is learning to recognize those signals and move the emotion through your body.

Welcome to the club, friend. That’s your body waving a big, neon sign that says, “Hey, you need to feel this!”

If we want to feel in control of our emotions, we actually need to create some intentional space where they are allowed to take control of us.

Solution? Throw the f*cking tantrum.

I’m serious. Take a cue from toddlers. When they feel something big, they let it rip—stomping, yelling, flopping onto the floor. And once the storm passes, they’re good to go. Calm, refreshed, and not holding onto any of that emotional mess. Tantrums are their emotional release valve, and frankly, we adults need to bring it back.

Letting yourself have a healthy tantrum is one of the best ways to move all that pent-up energy and get back to baseline. Give yourself a time out to stomp, shake, scream into a pillow, throw a (soft) object, whatever you need to do to let your body finish what it started. Because when you keep that energy bottled up, it’ll find ways to come out later.

In my 8-week group coaching program, Embodied Non-Monogamy, I’m teaching somatic tools that help you stop bottling up emotions and start moving them through.

Registration closes on March 11th. Grab your spot 🦋
