Medication abortion is safe and effective, and has been for the 25 years it's given patients a new way to access abortion care.

Thank you, Attorney General Brown, for standing with science-backed health care and reproductive freedom for all Marylanders.

I have joined 20 other attorneys general in a joint statement opposing efforts to restrict access to mifepristone. For more than 25 years, mifepristone has been proven safe and effective and is the most common method for early-term abortion care in the U.S. Attempts to limit it are not based on science—they’re political.

In Maryland, we’ve fought to protect reproductive care by challenging unjustified restrictions, filing briefs to preserve access, and petitioning the FDA to remove unnecessary barriers. We remain committed to safeguarding reproductive freedom.

Today is the anniversary of the Hyde Amendment—a federal amendment that for nearly 50 years has denied abortion care coverage to people with low incomes, especially women of color, immigrant women, and young women.

Planned Parenthood is continuing to work towards ending the discriminatory Hyde Amendment and opposing additional attacks on abortion coverage and financial barriers to care. Because everyone deserves access to life-saving services.

Thank you Senator Dawn Gile for joining Planned Parenthood of Maryland CEO Karen J. Nelson and staff at our Annapolis clinic for a tour and discussion on the current threats to vital health care.

It’s our mission at PPM to protect our patients’ access to life-saving care, from abortions to cancer screenings and more. And we wouldn’t be able to do that without open discussions with Maryland officials such as Senator Dawn Gile, who gave an open ear to the new threats patients are facing thanks to the current administration.

We’re grateful to have elected officials in Maryland who understand that s*xual and reproductive care IS necessary health care.

September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month, raising awareness for a range of cancers often not talked about.

Gynecologic cancers (including cervical, ovarian, uterine/endometrial, vaginal, and vulvar cancers) are diagnosed in more than 100,000 Americans each year, and lead to more than 30,000 deaths in the U.S.

But there is hope. Early cancer detection can lead to better treatment outcomes and survivor rates. Which means that if something feels off down there, don't ignore it.

Sudden heavy periods? New pelvic pain? Talk to a care provider and ask questions so that you can care for your health, and your future.
