Hello Pharmacy Students,

APhA-ASP would like to invite you to participate in our 2022 Patient Counseling Competition on *Tuesday, January 25th on campus at Knott Room 136 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.* This a great and interactive way to practice the art of patient counseling which is a critical skill to master as future pharmacists.

How is the competition hosted?

Each participant will schedule a 15-minute time slot to counsel a patient on a randomly assigned case. The recordings will be sent to judges and scored accordingly. The top 10 finalists will be awarded by APhA and the top finalist has the opportunity to participate in the National Patient Counseling Competition at this year's APhA Annual Meeting!

There is also an opportunity to participate as a volunteer acting as a patient which is a great way to help and support students who are competing!

*1 CC hour will be provided for volunteers.*

We will also be hosting a “Patient Counseling Workshop” on *January 20th from 6:00pm to 8:00pm on campus at Knott Room 136.* Where you will practice patient counseling skills and get ready for the competition.

Please see the flyers below for more details and use the QR codes to sign-up to compete or to help as a volunteer. Contact Ana Flores Santiago at afloressantiago1@live.ndm.edu with any questions.

Join the ADA in standing up for and with diabetics in the fight against alarming rising costs of insulin in the US.

Signing the petition will say that:
1. All entities in the insulin supply chain that we need transparency, affordability and access, and that no one who relies on insulin should have to wonder if they’ll be able to afford it, and;

2. Congress to hold hearings to identify the reasons for the dramatic increases in insulin prices and to take action to ensure all people who need insulin have affordable access to this lifesaving medication.

Follow the link to read the ADA's resolution and sign the petition: https://makeinsulinaffordable.org/petition/

Send a screenshot of your submission to Erika Rivera at erivera1@live.ndm.edu!

Insulin isn’t a luxury; it’s the difference between life and death for those who need it. Yet the cost of insulin is increasing at an alarming rate. It’s time for change. More than 523,276 people have joined the American Diabetes Association in calling for action. Add your name to the petition...
