Cancer 0, Lakeisha 2!

Last Friday, we had the honor of celebrating Lakeisha Tilghman at her bell-ringing ceremony. Lakeisha is a two-time cancer survivor from Baltimore who chose proton therapy to treat her breast cancer under the care of Dr. Elizabeth Nichols.

During her 28 days of twice-a-day treatments, Lakeisha worked remotely from our center between sessions. Our team was grateful to support her throughout her time at Maryland Proton Treatment Center.

Reflecting on her experience, Lakeisha shared: “My home away from home! I spent 6–7 hours here daily since treatment was twice a day. Building bonds and a great rapport with the staff made my 28 days wonderful. I felt like I was part of the family.”

Congratulations on beating cancer, again, Lakeisha!

We are so grateful for Dulaney High School’s Club for a Cure. They often come by MPTC to show kindness to our patients. This past week, they stopped by to drop off some rice-filled balloon stress snowballs for our patients to enjoy.

Jennifer experienced unexplained back pain and struggled to find answers for the cause. She went to urgent care, which referred her to an oncologist, who diagnosed her with cervical cancer. She said, “The journey taught me to live life to the fullest. Don’t put off what you want to do. Don’t put off experiencing new things.”
