Our Abilities Adventures athletes recently had an amazing day of adaptive indoor rock climbing.

We’re all about creating a safe, supportive space where everyone can try new things, make friends, and discover their inner strength.

As one athlete shared:
“I didn’t feel alone today… it made me feel like I could try something new.”

On World Diabetes Day, we honor the strength of the children and families living with diabetes every day.
At Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, our Diabetes Clinic team knows that a diagnosis changes everything—for children and for the families who care for them.
With experts in nursing, nutrition, psychology, endocrinology, and tech-based care, our team helps each patient find their “new normal.” Managing diabetes takes a village—and at MWPH, families never do it alone.

🐾 Superheroes come in all shapes and sizes — and sometimes, they have paws! 🦸‍♀️🎂
This week, our facility dogs Babs, Gaston, and Bata celebrated their birthdays with a paw-some superhero-themed party! 💛 Patients and staff joined in the fun with plenty of puppy snuggles, custom coloring pages, and special MWPH trading cards — the perfect way to honor the pups who bring comfort, courage, and joy to our hospital every day.

Our Abilities Adventures group recently visited Maryland Therapeutic Riding with patients who use AAC devices. During the visit, they practiced communication skills to boost participation and confidence in community recreation. We’re so grateful for every animal who reminded us that connection goes far beyond words. 💙🐴

Ava’s journey from patient to college graduate is a testament to resilience and hope. After facing a brain tumor and multiple strokes as a child, Ava received intensive rehabilitation at MWPH. Today, she’s a proud University of South Carolina graduate and entrepreneur, working on a clothing line that promotes inclusion and understanding.
