This week was National Case Management Week, when we honor the tireless work of case managers at each of our centers.

Our case managers know that getting and staying healthy isn't just about medicine--it means helping our patients access all the services they need to live their best lives. Our case managers are the heart of our mission at Chase Brexton, and we're proud of all they do. www.chasebrexton.org/SWOD.

October 15 is National Latinx HIV/AIDS Awareness Day, and this year's theme seeks to answer an important question: "Should you get tested for HIV? Yes!" Marked each year since 2003, promotes effective ways to prevent, treat, and stop the spread of HIV among Latinos.
This year’s focus is to promote HIV testing. An estimated 170,000 people in the United States are living with HIV and unaware of their status. This gap in diagnosis delays access to life-saving treatment and increases the risk of unknowingly transmitting the virus. At Chase Brexton, we offer free, fast, confidential HIV testing at each of our centers daily - learn more at www.chasebrexton.org/POWER and www.chasebrexton.org/s*xual health

Did you know October 10th is World Mental Health Day? Taking care of our mental health is important throughout all the changes and seasons of life. It is especially important in times of stress and grief. This year's World Mental Health Day theme, "Access to Service: Mental Health in Catastrophes and Emergencies" encourages us to learn about our options and know where to go in crisis moments. Happy National Midwifery Week to our amazing team of midwives!

This year's theme is "Midwives at Every Table: Practice, Policy & Research," celebrating the essential presence of midwives at every table where decisions are made--from clinical care to community leadership, from policy change to groundbreaking research.

We're so proud of the work our Chase Brexton midwives do at these tables every day!

We're excited to welcome Vanessa Perez Valencia, PhD, LGPC as the newest Staff Therapist at Glen Burnie Center! Vanessa says:

"What brings me to Chase Brexton is how they appreciate diversity and the respect and recognition that they have for every person no matter they s*x, s*xual orientation, ethnicity or racial distinction. I come from Mexico City which allows me to understand Latin culture and its needs, and I am also bilingual, so I can be a better promotor of good with my Latin patients. Also I am proficient in English and I also understand and lived in American culture, which allows me to understand the methodology of work and culture to help my patients."
