Reiki, pronounced Ray key, is a technique that started in Japan by Usui Mikao that is based on quantum physics where a practitioner such as myself manipulates the energy field of the client for healing, revitalization, cleansing, and/or balance. I worked with both in the medical field earning my certification as an EMT, and working as a Combat Medic. My family has all been a part of the medical field, either in a medical or holistic manner. I realized at a young age that I wanted to help people. I loved working in the medical field in the Army because I was not limited on how I could take care of my soldiers. But when I left the military and started working on the civilian side, I learned that I was very limited and it was more about the pharmaceuticals and what health insurance the patients have. I literally got let go from a temporary job for taking too much time with the patients. Like this is fast food or something, not healthcare. So I decided to step away from the healthcare field and focus on my family. Holistic healing, Energy healing, and herbalism have always been an interest of mine. So I decided to go back to school and work towards a degree in Horticultural therapy, and Bioenergy, and Anthropology. These studies gave me a really good grounding for my interests. I had been working with animals for a very long time using Reiki, but I didn't get my Reiki Master status until recently. I am receiving treatment by an amazing acupuncturist through the VA, and we have become really close friends. When he found out that I was working on my Master Reiki, he offered me space and time to start my own practice. Two weeks later, I started High Mountain Reiki, and love every minute of it. My family also owns property by Concho, Arizona where we have started our homestead, so the days that I am not in the office, I am out with the animals or hands in the dirt. Both are amazing therapy for me.
